Dined at Open House yesterday evening. The ambiance is wanting & dining area is rather small. Fortunately, for them what they lack in ambiance they more than make up for in other sectors.

The service was excellent ; we were ushered to our seats pleasantly, handed the menu immediately after settling , received our hot minted hand towels, drink & meals on time. In addition clearing of plates was done immediately after finishing our meal course . This I highly commend being it is not the norm in Kenya

We order the following ; ginger fried prawns as a starter. Palak paneer & methi chicken accompanied by butter naan as our main meal.

The ginger fried prawns were a rather interesting dish. These prawns were cooked to perfection & sprinkled with love. I was impressed that although the prawns were deep fried each prawn maintained its succulence without being under cooked . The prawns were lightly coated the deep fried with extremely thin ginger slices also fried with chilli & what I believe to be saffron. The prawn were such an honor of my taste buds awakening each one. This starter easily added as one of my favorites.

The butter naan although slightly heaver than what I am accustomed to usually managed to achieve flakiness & multiple layers. Of course dismissing my prenotion that naan must be thin.

The palak paneer was done rather uniquely being that the chief added twist to the undertone flavors ; smokiness as well as nuttiness. An absolute delightful to the palate.

The methi chicken was delicious. Very rich yet not overpowering with its signature ingredient fenugreek.

Open House Karen is delightful a big bang for your buck. I shall be frequenting often.

P.s If you like your meals spicy request that they make it medium to hot & not...

This place was so good and we had amazing service too!! Our server was knowledgeable and very helpful. I was worried about it being too spicy because I've had "mild" Indian food before and I couldn't even eat it. The server said they don't add any chili unless we ask. The food was so good, flavorful and did not disappoint. We initially ordered too much naan and chips (we were hungry!!). He suggested an appropriate amount and if we needed more then he would bring. I'm so glad he did that because the chips would have been way too many. We did end up ordering more naan but that's because we wanted to bring it home with our leftovers. Everyone really enjoyed their meal and our kids want to go back for more. Again our server...

This place is our absolute fave! The service is always spot on, from the lovely salad for pre-starter to the warm water and lemon to clean our fingers afterwards… and the food! The ginger chicken wings are to die for, the naan is always perfect, and the dry chili paneer is so good we order it almost every time! Well, sometimes we say we are going to try something different, and the tangerine chicken got added to our favorites list because of that. We asked our East African Asian friend where they go for good Indian food, and they listed Open House right away! If you haven’t been, you should...

Service was excellent. Location is convenient. Setting is beautiful. I had a seat by the window looking out to the street and liked that the restaurant was especially quiet when I went (5pm on a Tuesday). But the dishes I ordered were just so-so. The garlic wings didn't really taste garlicky but had some other salty taste with red food coloring that was a little off putting. The chilly paneer was not as crispy or sticky as I have tasted elsewhere. The tandoori paratha was ok but a little too thick. I won't order the same dishes if I go back.

Open House Karen is a really good Indian restaurant located in the Karen area, a bit far from the city center. The restaurant has a menu which offers a wide range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options for a full course meal. The food here is really delicious and I would suggest trying the paneer starters for vegetarian options. The seating arrangement is also good. The pricing is decent but not cheap, mid range. Overall a very good experience

The food is amazing at this location. I ordered the Chicken Makhani (Indian butter chicken - a favorite of mine) and it was super delicious. The service is also exceptional and they have some nice touches, like providing hot towels that smell like essential oils. It’s a bit pricy but dinning prices in Nairobi always leave me shocked. I highly recommend if you’re in the mood for good Indian food and great ambiance.
