Impressive building with interesting modern architectural touches. The inside is well designed, with interesting features and highlights. I particularly liked the wooden curvature in the central atrium and thought the paper lantern chandelier was cute. If you'd like to be treated well, dress upscale. I stopped in after a walk and had jeans, my Dodgers hoodie and loafers, consequently I was relegated to a table by the entrance, with the nannies and children. The waitress wasn't knowledgeable at all about the traditional preparations of various items, so that was disappointing, but I finally settled on the lamb and fragrant rice dish, it's the first item listed under traditional kuwaiti dishes. The food did not disappoint at all. Beautiful presentation, with the tomato sauce served piping hot in a little sauce decanter. The rice was well cooked, fragrant and sprinkled with raisins. The lamb was delicious. Cooked to perfection and lightly spiced, it was a good combination. It was also too much for one hungry person, so I'd recommend sharing it. After paying my bill, I wandered into the sweets bakery that's in the way out and sampled a few of their offerings. To an Indian, they were all very familiar, and reminiscent of sweets I ate growing up. Certainly worth getting a box or two. Overall, I'd certainly recommend the restaurant. Read moreBeautiful place and delicious Kuwaiti cuisine in the modern style. I love the originality of this restaurant in its design and special dishes. However, I have to mention my negative experience there as well. When we used Dar Hamad as a place of working dinner, we had a waiter for our table, but he was really annoying… Every time when serving a dish, he repeated his own name, saying “My name is Mohammad (not real name), OK? I’m Mohammad. Don’t forget my name, sir. Mohammad”. It’s OK that a waiter says his name when introducing himself in the beginning, but he repeated to us his name persistently, every time he served a dish and even poured water for us, and even in the midst of our conversation or serious discussion on business! I love the food and atmosphere of your restaurant and our guests also seemed to like it, but frankly speaking, it was embarrassing for me to choose the restaurant with such a impolite and crude-behavior waiter. I don’t name him here because I don’t wanna attack him personally, but I really recommend your restaurant to re-train your staff on the...
Read moreVery very disappointed.
We were here for my husband’s birthday. I reserved a table with decoration and a cake with “a special message”. The flowers not as I requested. The shape and color was different. Worse than the picture We agreed on. They forgot to write my husband’s name on the cake’s plate As requested. They priced me 20 kd for the flowers. 4 for the cake. Extra 1 kd for the name that they didn’t write. Total 21KD for nothing! (The cake was very delicious)
I couldn’t say anything to the staff infront of my husband so I do not ruin the day for him. But I wanted to speak to the staff who were very busy to listen and walked away from me!
They called a hundred times to confirm. The least that they do is to make sure to do the requests!
Other than that. We enjoyed the condiments( achar, maabouch, bread ... etc), the grilled shrimps and the drinks.
The salad with matay was Ok and the musakhan chicken not so much.
The staff were friendly. Except the guy who I wanted to complain to.
Overall, I could go back to eat but not for a...
