They levy 10% service charge and say that it is compulsory, and they say that they mentioned in the menu that they levy service charge. Just mentioning it in the menu does not authorize any restaurant to mandate service charge, this is illegal as per law.
We were seated in the 1st floor and the waiter who served us claimed to be the floor incharge, he was not at all interested in serving us. We ordered paneer tikka which is around 10 pieces, he simply put it on the table and went away without serving. We had to call him back to serve. How can they expect 4 people to eat paneer tikka right from its plate? There were no spoons and forks on our table and we had to ask them 3 times and that is when they got us cutlery from a table beside us. Mint chutney was given in a small bowl and when we asked for a spoon for that, he said they do not have such small spoons for that bowl, then why have such small bowls in the first place? Are they expecting us to serve directly from the bowl and spill the chutney all over? We encountered 2 waiters among which one was floor incharge as per his claim. Despite this horrible service, they were reluctant to deduct the 10% service charge. I asked them to call their manager, he said they don't have a manager and he is the floor incharge and they only have a GM. I asked to call them GM but they did not call anyone, but returned with a revised bill without service charge.
I asked them to show me ang govt proof which authorizes them to mandate service charge, the only proof they say is it is mentioned in the menu. Mentioning in the menu is not a govt issued certificate.
Another reason he quoted for service charge is that they arranged a table for us. Arranging table for customers is the least a restaurant has to do, if they dont have a table available they are welcome to let the customers go, we would be more than happy to go to some other place where they would actually be interested in serving their customers and levy 100%...

If you’re looking for a restaurant that combines delicious food, a serene lakeside view, and an unbeatable atmosphere, Lake District is the place to be! I recently visited with a friend from Bangalore, and we were absolutely blown away by the experience.
Food Highlights:
Cheese Cigar Rolls (4.5/5) A perfect start to the evening! These crispy, cheese-filled cigar rolls were light, flavorful, and paired beautifully with a sweet chilli sauce. They set the tone for the rest of the meal.
Rainbow Veg Seekh (5/5) Without a doubt, the star of the show. The seekh kebabs, made with colorful bell peppers, olives, and an exciting medley of spices, were hands down the best I’ve had. Unique, flavorful, and cooked to perfection—this dish alone is worth the visit.
Spicy Wild Mushroom Bao (4/5) The fluffy bao was filled with a spicy, crunchy mushroom stuffing. It was tasty and comforting, though I felt it could’ve had a bit more heat to truly elevate the flavors.
Double Decker Paneer Tikka (3.5/5) This dish was a creative take on the classic paneer tikka, with mint, fennel, and cashew stuffing. While it was good, it lacked the spice kick I was hoping for. Still enjoyable, but it didn’t quite match the excitement of the other dishes.
The Ambiance:
What truly sets this place apart is the view and vibe. Located by a peaceful lake, the restaurant offers a tranquil setting with beautiful water views and soft background music. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxing evening or a special celebration.
Overall:

Read more10/10 for ambience. Worth visiting if you prefer to have good ambience. Food was good enough, and nicely presented. Loud music be it DJ or live music was something which was a turn off because it was too loud for the kind of ambience. If live music could have been on moderate decibel, it could have complimented the location and would have given a soothing experience.
What I hated the most was, the forced upon SERVICE CHARGE, which was equivalent to 1 dish. As per CCPA, SC was banned and now maybe in dilemma but not mandatory, I requested the waiter to remove it because it has to be customer’s choice. He started begging, I told him don’t make me feel guilty just remove it, I will give you the tip. The amount was extremely high as a tip. Somehow after lots of please please, it was removed. Later when handed him the cash, he started saying what would happen with this, give more. It was however more. I wouldn’t take the waiter’s name, but the management have to train the staff, they are professionals and getting paid for their job of serving customers, they shouldn’t beg for extra money. Customers voluntary do pay them, with gratitude they should accept, if it is against their ego reject it on the face. The waiter kept on saying this is less and later took the cash and left. Entire experience was good but if the end goes bad, we leave with the last feeling which we encountered. Question might be to the management now, are you guys paying your staff less that they are stooping down to this level, where they have to force their customers to pay the amount as tip or the the staff is not trained on being civilised with their customers. Please do look into this, I do want to visit the restaurant again and again, but if this kind of behaviour continues I don’t think so anyone would like...
