Let's get this straight once and forever: there are TWO "M Sayhoun" falafel shops. Both are in Damascus Street, both are run by brothers and they are next door to one another. The left hand shop is run by Fuad Sayhoun, the right by Zouheir. The brothers were both trained in the dark and delicate art of creating the perfect falafel sandwich by their father, Mustapha, whose name adorns both brothers' shopfronts. Mustapha founded the business in 1933. But, here's the catch, the reason there are two shops is that the brothers fell out, irreconcilably, and they never talk or socialise. To describe their relationship as one of hatred is about right. Zouheir makes excellent falafel. It is tasty, cheap, filling and so good it will make you want another. Don't, just go back another day. The simplicity of the sandwich is its secret - three little balls of fried chickpea taken from the ring of them warming on the rim of the fryer, mixed with some parsley, radish, tomato and tarator, a tahini sauce, all wrapped in thin pita bread. Zouheir charges 3,000LL, about $2, for a sandwich, amazing value. Cold drinks are sold from a little cooler behind the counter. There are a couple of stools, normally occupied by regulars, so hang outside and enjoy. Highly recommended.

I think this is like a Mecca stop whenever someone visits Lebanon Beirut because this is a must visit shop to try the Falafel. For me this is probably the shop that I have ever tried the best falafel the first bite you get a hot one it is hot, crispy and so flavourful and soft on the inside. Don't scrimp if you can just order the big one which is the sandwich extra it will leave you very satisfied. Hang around for a while to catch the falafel frying process and the making of the sandwich. Was honoured to have the famous owner doing hands on wrapping the sandwich and see how fast his hands are. Even singer Bryan Adams visited this place and enjoyed the falafel. Its a great combination on the fresh vegetables and the sauces used that till now makes my impression of the sandwich so memorable. Don't be mistaken cause there are 2 shops side by side selling the same thing. You know you are eating from the right shop when you feel so satisfied and happy.

If you're looking for authentic falafel at an unbeatable price, this place is a must-visit. The falafel is everything you could hope for—crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, with just the right blend of spices. Each bite bursts with tradition, served alongside fresh pita, vibrant salads, and creamy tahini sauce. The generous portions and budget-friendly prices make it a fantastic option for anyone craving a taste of the Middle East without breaking the bank. Whether you're a long-time falafel fan or trying it for the first time, this spot won't disappoint.

History is here. One of the oldest Falafel shops in town. He and his brother got separate shops next to each other as they had a fight and made the split. They always compete with quality and prices. This shop is always cheaper with a great taste. Both prices are more expensive than usual shops but hopefully they are using better quality ingredients and oil. It is a must try if you are passing by DT Beirut and craving for a delicious healthy fast sandwich. Highly recommended :)

One of the worst tasting falafels in Lebanon, if not the world. The falafels are dry, soggy, and tasteless. I’m not sure how this place has been around for 90 years!! The service is ridiculous, and the place is not very clean though an old man was “attempting” to clean while we were ordering take out.

It was impressive to see the personality of the honest owner. I realised that's why they're so popular and why people keep coming back to this falafel-centric place. Even with the crazy inflation in Lebanon, they seem to manage to keep the price as reasonable as possible. # Beirut # Lebanon
