UNFRIENDLY, RACIST and STUCK-UP Baristas. Do not be fooled by their seemingly 'nice' initial behavior. Fake-friendly smiles. - My wife (who is Asian) bought her take-away coffee while I was walking on my way there. I reached the shop just in time to witness my wife being asked by the female barista to "move aside" for a white lady who was taking a photo of her drink (my wife was also taking a photo of her drink and was NOT blocking the White-lady. Even the White-lady felt embarrassed and gestured quickly to my wife to move back and continue taking the photo.
Bear in mind - There was No Queue and No crowd. I was standing at the doorway and did not order cause I was not even dining in. After seeing this happen, I went and stood outside. My wife came outside after that.
We proceeded to take some photos outside - I took my wife's coffee take-away paper cup and posed for a photo outside beside the doorway, I was not even blocking anyone (There was no one walking in or out). The male barista purposely walked out very quickly from behind the counter JUST to show the "X" sign with his hands, purposely making me move away (he pretended to look around the floor where I was previously standing, before walking back in) .. Come on.. Passive-Aggresive much? What did I even do?
Our ONLY conclusion is that They (Little Nap) were unhappy we did not order a 2nd cup for myself. We ABSOLUTELY know about this culture, and we always order a-cup-a-person. BUT I was not dining-in this time, so why the awkward passive-aggressive hostility towards me?
And best yet, their coffee isn't that great either. Sub-par coffee. (I may be biased because of my bad experience, but I still feel the coffee was not as great as the reviews here make it seem to be.)
CONCLUSION - If you are Asian (or at least one of you are) and visiting Japan , and are looking for coffee hopping ... SKIP THIS CAFE. Don't waste your money and time. Nothing to see here, and there are many other specialty coffee cafes around Tokyo to...

It was a lot quieter and felt more residential except for sightings of random shops. This compact spot was one of them though it was encircled by young hipsters sipping from paper cups. Yep, it was a coffee stand alright.
A sliver of a place, the business was run by two young enterprising guys who showcased ample dexterity in making their coffee drinks. We ordered a couple of ¥580 Iced Lattes which had delightful zings of espresso amid the ice cubes. They served single-drip coffee from their own roastery nearby as well as baked goods and ice cream. We actually found a place to sit because seats are at a premium in here. Delightful spot, would come back in a heartbeat.

Read moreAbsolutely worth a train ride to Kichijoji. This Cafes atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. It has a authentic feeling aesthetic, with posters on the wall reminiscent of a vintage American time. There's also a record player in a corner of the cafe where you may listen to music from their selection on some headphones, making this a great cafe for those looking to slow down and get comfortable. Most importantly the coffee selection is satisfying - at my time of visiting there were three different origin coffees on the menu, and you could request a certain brewing method, or have it iced. Naturally they have an espresso bar as well, and the baristas (staff) were talented. I would recommend ordering a pour-over coffee for something cheap and easily accessible. If you're planning a day trip to see nearby parks, don't...
