Place to go for a satisfying meal! Gai si hor fun is flavorful, chicken is SO tender and cooked and seasoned to perfection. Definitely the main reason why this is a popular spot that we keep going back to. It's recommended that you go as early as possible to avoid being disappointed because they tend to sell out of kampung chicken and many of the key dishes around noon or later. One time, we visited around 1pm, and their kampung chicken and bean sprouts were already sold out. So go early in the day!
The best part is this is not just an Ipoh gai si hor fun shop. They also have good variety and styles of dishes like curry mee, curry hor fun, dry hor fun, and hainanese chicken rice just to name a few.
For some reason I really like their menu and how the price of each item is clear cut and displayed well on their menu. Shop is brightly lit, spacious, airy and not stuffy or hot. Service is top notch.
During our recent visit, we noticed that their boss performs QA/QC on each dish before serving it to make sure orders are accurate and quality of the dishes are up to par. Definitely glad to see places that take the time to pay attention to details for their customers. The boss lady was also very communicative which I was pretty impressed by. They ran out of bean sprouts/taugeh when we visited this time and food took a little longer to be served, even though we didn't mind it nor did we complain, she took the initiative to let us know ahead of time and kept apologizing to us multiple times throughout our meal for the inconvenience caused.
We've been here multiple times, and it's my family's frequent spot for breakfast/brunch. Definitely...
Read moreThis place was highly recommended for the smooth chicken rice. And it lived up to its high expectations. The steam chicken was incredibly smooth to eat. And the chicken rice itself was a delight to smell. We came around 10am so we got a spot within walking distance walked pass some interesting vietnamese eateries along the way. ( side fact, there must be a vietnamese community living nearby because there was a rather well stocked mart selling their local goodies)
We had the following dishes: chicken rice ( yum ) as good as the one we had at Ion Orchard in Singapore for a fraction of the price. They served it with their own ginger sauce which also tasted a tad salty. I suspect there was some salted fish infused with it. Very nice sauce. But no chillie cause served with it The Hor Fun. This had a strong smell of prawns. I'm not a fan of prawns but it's a personal thing so I won't dock off any marks for this. The shredded chicken pieces were tender unlike some other shops.
The service was prompt. And the restaurant itself clean and airy. So yes I would return for the chicken rice. And order more chicken to go with the rice.

Close, pretty darn close to the real thing!
The sole-operator coffeeshop is a hub of activity. There's a steady queue outside, while the order taker flits from one table to another and food gets served every minute. Parking in this area is unfortunately horrendous.
Be patient, be prepared to wait but have trust in the queueing and ordering system and you will be rewarded with one of the finest kai see hor fun in KL. The soup is flavourful, comes with prawn oil which imparts the requisite redness in the soup. The kway teow (imported from Ipoh) is cut thinly and fine. They don't skimp on the ingredients either - shredded chicken, prawns, smooth chicken (depending on what you order) and chives. The smooth chicken was good too as was the rice. The order taker is a human Swiss knife - she manages the queue, ushers, orders and handles payments without fluttering and with politeness! My only small complaint was the taugeh was a bit overdone.
A great place for Ipoh Malis to get their fix of...
