I took my family to this restaurant on this week Friday, first and foremost, the waitress who assisted us and took our order was an old lady, as a first timer to this restaurant we asked her to explain us and differentiate the differences between two specific dishes which were the Nyonya Fish and the Assam fish, as for what I know both the dishes are very much similar. When I politely asked her of what is the difference between both the dishes, she sarcastically answered of “it’s your choice, why are you asking me” . I have been to many fine dining places and other seafood restaurants as well but Nono of the service crew/waiter/waitress has been this rude to me. Secondly, we wanted to order a steamed Grouper dish as there was such an option placed in the menu and displayed as well, and when we ordered that particular dish, the same woman told us that Grouper fish can’t be steamed it could only be fried. Then why does this restaurant offer steamed fish option as well, I don’t understand if something on the menu isn’t available please write it down and state it specifically. The worst part is when she told us that Grouper fish can’t be steamed at all. As a person who has been eating fish and cooking fish at home too, I could tell you that it’s an utter lie if one says that this fish can’t be steamed. I have been to other seafood restaurants as well, and none have told Grouper Fish can’t be steamed. And lastly we chose the curry pot Fish, and when we asked what fish is this and they can’t even explain properly regarding the type fish. Initially we wanted to order the Nyonya Style Fish but since the waitress told that the fish can’t be steamed we settled down to the Curry Fish and there wasn’t any meat or flesh of the fish in it, totally regretted.
Secondly, we ordered the Crab (XL size) but trust me the size of the crab was very small. They told us that it’s an XL size but it looks like an average M size. I really do not understand.
It’s just an average place to go for Seafood nothing great, nothing to shout about and I don’t understand the hype here. I would never recommend people who stay far from this place to put effort and come to this restaurant. There are better seafood restaurants out there and why I am saying this is because none of these seafood restaurants out there would tell you that Grouper Fish can’t be steamed at all. This one fact speaks for itself about this restaurant.
I would like to tell, please brief your waitress only the specific one about how to talk and deal with a customer, if you’re working in a restaurant I’m pretty sure you should know how to attend and assist the customers regarding the menu and the food, this is common when one is working in F&B.
Totally...
Read moreHi, I visited this restaurant for a family reunion dinner. All these years we had reunions at various restaurants. Unfortunately, sad to say that I would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND this food outlet to anyone. It's was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING & SO DISAPPOINTING. We had placed the Rm888++ package for 31Jan 8pm dinner. We had replace some dishes as well as added a couple more for an adequate dinner.
Service was amazingly POOR but we could overlooked as it was a busy night but the food served was indescribable of POOR QUALITY & QUANTITY Vs PRICE for a long established restaurant like Mei Kang Fatt. It was blatantly unforgivable for its staff attitude when we highlighted the discrepancies.
The "Yee sang" was just crackers but without salmon as we requested. They insisted it had "Hoi chit". Don't see any left alone tasted any. It was the worst "Yee sang" we ever had. Even food court centres served better Yee sang than a supposedly renowned restaurant like Mei Kang Fatt. Their steamed siakap supposedly for 10 pax shrunk to only able for consumption for 4-5 pax. When they served the stirred fried veg, IE siew Pak choy my daughter commented it should costed rm4 from Aeon Big, even if considered chef's effort should not cost for rm30.
Their 4 season was even worst. I guess as a housewife who is not excellent at cooking, I would fair much better.
The menu also include shark's fin soup. As our family seldom consume shark's fin, we had it replaced by dried scallops. The dried scallops were.not properly soaked to soften so the bites were hard when served.
On the whole, I felt so dismayed as I wrote this but I hope u had better think about holding a banquet there. IT WAS THE WORST EVER REUNION DINNER I HAD TO START MY "TIGER" YEAR.
So sorry I had to post such a review but the dinner just...
Read moreBooked this place for mother’s day and was quite happy at first getting a decent place to sit. However things start to get sour after that. There were not many patron when we arrived and we have ordered vege, fried rice, lala soup and 2 flavours of crabs. For drinks we go with coconut and while waiting we savor the coconut and it was all good until the one my daughter got was mouldy and she drank quite a bit of the coconut water which already turned sour! We asked for replacement and no objection from them so which is okay but really must check your supplies before serving to customer. Then one by one dish start to come out and after all the dish were out except the crabs which have to wait for 40 minutes! That is a very bad time management as the crab is the main thing we want to eat first. I can’t deny the crab meat were fresh and top notch! However all other little thing didn’t quite turn out well. Otherwise its a nice place for...
