The shop is exactly by the roadside on MRR2. Upon arriving, we have difficulties finding a parking due to limited parking space. Plus, the parking has only 1 entrance that are use for both; to enter & to exit from the parking lot. Refer picture for the said gate.
Later when we received our food, I was surprised by the portion of the sambal on our protein. I ordered tiger prawn set, whereas my partner, talapia set. We literally have to search for the sambal underneath the lauk & we as sambal lovers had to order another add on sambal for RM3.50 due to the small portion of the sambal.
As we are eating, our full order had yet to be fulfilled, sotong celup tepung, still in the kitchen. I prompted one of the waiter if the sotong will take more of our time we would want to cancel but then he attended us quite quickly with the sotong.
But quite unfortunate, by the time the sotong arrived, we have all finished our food & washed our hands. We are surprised by the dish that it had no sambal or sauce to eat the RM10++ sotong with. We are down to our last 2 sotong piece when we realised one of it is a kangkung celup tepung & another is just a lump of tepung with no protein or kangkung whatsoever in it.
My partner call the waiter (probably a supervisor or owner - due to the fact that he did not wear the same uniform as the rest of them & he carry a walkie) & told him about the sotong. You can refer in picture.
At the cashier, we settle the bill with sotong removed, but with no remarks whatsover by the cashier.
We have no difficulties in getting out of the parking lot, but it was a nightmare merging into the main road because of the high speed traffic. Due to this, i have caused queue of cars that were about to enter the...
Read moreDiscovered this Indonesian restaurant while driving along the Ampang below the MRR2. This restaurant taunts the sambal as hot. Flaming hot!. So beware for those who have low tolerancefor spiciness.
There are four sambal shown on the wall of the restaurant, Sambal Bakar On Fire, Samavl Hejo, Sambal Gepuk and Sambal Embe. Each with it’s on unique taste and spiciness.
The dishes comes with sets such as chicken, lobster, Iga Bakar, Tiger Prawns, Bakso Godzila, Ikan Tenggiri and more. The chicken for example comes inside a hotplate so it’s still cooking when they serve it to you.
There are many references to the fire fighting Dept (Bomba). To be honest, I am quite reluctant to try the dish as I am scared that I can stand the spiciness. But, you can try it yourself and find it out.
There’s plenty for parking space and there is also surau (prayer room) provided. The dishes and staffs Indonesian so if you like Indonesian foods you’ll be right at home here. And if you having problems choosing which dishes to try, I recommend the set for two chicken at 39.90 complete with drinks. And the hotness is quite bearable.
The dishes are delicious and price starts at RM9.90. Very affordable. Eating for 2 person with Bakso and Chicken dish with drinks is around RM37. Operating time is 11:00 AM till 11:00 PM. While parking might not be a problem, the exit you might need to extra careful as you will be exiting to Jalan Ampang and the traffic can be heavy....
Read moreThe very next day upon our return from Jakarta, Amir invited us to have lunch here, a well established chain of outlets from Indonesia...so, go figure!! Najwa quipped, luckily we didnt have any Ayam Penyet while we were in Indonesia...and that was the truth...
I am never a big fan of ayam penyet, geprek, gembus or anything of the likes, as they are normally served with different types of sambals, which I just couldnt quite figure out. In fact, spicy sambals are my worst enemies!!
The highlight of the lunch for us was Eiden, obviously. Since his Mama was still away in Paris and Barcelona, Amir had been at his wits end trying to entertain Eiden, and keeping him from missing his Mama..Hence, our lunch was part of the deal to keep Eiden well occupied.
Najwa & my wife finally had their long awaited fix of Ayam Penyet, while Daniel and I went for the Iga Bakar set, a dish we didnt get to try when we were in Jakarta or Bandung. Basically, they were tasty and delicious, as I couldnt get any good quality barbequed ribs at an affordable price elsewhere.
After lunch, it was all about entertaining Eiden with the Bomba fireman suit, and the related activities, which he had enjoyed so much..I guess, that was the "on fire" part of the restaurant, as I totally miss the sambal experience, for...
