Secret Recipe Taman Melawati — Restaurant in Ampang Jaya Municipal Council

I ordered a few slices of cake because I was really craving dessert & Secret Recipe seemed like the best option as it’s a well known brand with a good variety of choices.

But no matter which flavor I order, New York Cheesecake, Choc Cheese Berries, Hokkaido Triple Choc, or Choc Odyssey, they all end up tasting pretty much the same. There’s barely any distinction in flavor, which is quite frustrated, especially since I’ve ordered multiple times hoping for a better experience.

The portion of each slice feels like it’s only half of what you’d expect. I understand that bakery costs have gone up, and I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more if the quality stayed consistent. The cheese flavors taste off, and the chocolate comes across as cheap and artificial definitely not what you’d expect from a well known dessert store.

Honestly, the cakes sound great by name, but the actual taste doesn’t live up to the promise. Maybe Secret Recipe should focus on fewer flavors but do them really well, rather than offering many that fall...

Kindly train your staff not to stare at customers while they're dining. Makes people feel super not comfortable. This is not the kind of service u should be offering. Instead, come over when customer is waving at you. Moreover, do not rush to clean the plates when customers haven't even finish their food. Customers will feel you're shoo-ing away them.

Food wise, tomyum is much worse than mamak or Malay shop. If I close my eyes and eat, I wouldn't guess it is tomyum. We would expect to get better experience with such pricing. Previously secret recipe did well not only on cakes but mains as well....

On 27 June 2025 aproximately 8.30pm I have a dinner with my family at Secret Recipe Taman Melawati. I have 3 vouchers total amount RM150 and intent to use the vouchers for payment amount RM154.80 but the system decline it. The cashier say that the system faulty. So I have to pay with my debit card. Its a very bad experience for me as Secret Recipe promoting the Vouchers but yet ready to implement the system. Please take this complaint seriously and hopefully it didnt happen to other customer.
