Mi Ban Cafe — Restaurant in Batu Kawan Island

First time trying the food here, lots of flies around table, food taste was ok though, but had a very bad experience due to a scam. If I hadn't been here, I would not have gotten scammed from the qr code on table.

Something others can be cautious about: There was a qr code to leave review right next to food ordering qr code. When scanning qr code to order food, the review qr code got scanned instead as it was so close to each other. A page pop up with a button to click for skip advertisement. After clicking skip advertisement page, it requested to enter phone number and OTP. Thinking it was the food ordering page, I entered the OTP number sent to my phone and the next moment, I received an sms stating RM 8 charged to my phone account for a hindi movie entertainment channel. I also found out that this website require user to click 'unsubscribe', otherwise it will auto charge every month! So troublesome and waste alot of time trying to figure out how to make sure I will not be charged again. Finally I managed to unsubscribe so I won't be charged automatically the following month, although the RM 8 charge was irreversible.

Informed this incident to the restaurant staff. Response fr restaurant owner through the staff was to contact phone provider for refund and to call the restaurant owner. In my opinion, restaurant should have just compensate back RM 8 if really sincere and sorry for publishing such qr code that easily misled customer into a scam, instead of troubling customer to contact here and there. For customers that are very busy like me, I will just let go of the RM 8 but it's good enough to leave a lasting memory of first encounter with such scam during a visit to this restaurant after attempting to scan food...

Is my first visit Unfortunately was disappointed with the staff service. Not well trained. Register as the member to claim the rewards voucher free drink. Did ask the staff prior to my order what drinks can i order to claim that free voucher and she mentioned is not applicable for soda drinks only. So i proceed with my order that is not soda drink however when go to counter to pay only the staff mentioned that the system cant deduct for the drink that I have ordered. Because it auto deduct for the plain water which is rm1 .. seriously?! If got this kind rules should let customer know upfront. Otherwise i wouldn’t had place another order. It is not about the money but more to not pleasant experience. Please train your staff to know about the benefits. Other than that theres alot of flies flying around. Abit annoying while having meal.
