Very disappointed we didn’t get to try the belacan meehoon and laksa here. It’s recommended by our local friends. Instead we had the rojak, prawn fritters and the fried carrot cake. The rojak had very thick sauce, very different from west Malaysia, but it’s very tasty! The prawn fritter tbh, it’s mediocre. Nothing wow about it just very ordinary fried fritter. But I don’t understand why there are so many supporters. The friend carrot cake was nice. It’s the salty version which is similar to Singapore style. It was char perfectly and I strongly recommend it. The ice drinks are also a must have. They have a few varieties. I personally like the white lady. The local have this unique drink called sarsi grass jelly. Please try it!

It’s always pack after lunch hour when locals are having afternoon snacks. Ready for a minimal 30min wait for the...

Finally made my way back here after more than 2 years — and it’s still as good as I remember! The prawn fritters are the real OG — crispy, flavourful, and perfect when dipped in the chili sauce with crushed peanuts. So addictive!

Also had the shaved ice treats — went for the Milo Jagung and ABC. You get two for RM10, which is a good deal considering the generous amount of jagung and Milo powder in the MJ. Sweet, satisfying, and perfect for the weather.

I also noticed the owner has set up a strong blower/portable aircon and fans to keep the place cool and comfy — really thoughtful touch for an indoor/outdoor setup!

Definitely planning to bring my friends over soon. Gotta make sure everything’s still up to standard before introducing it to my friend...

In 1967, the couples run a lok-lok hawker stall with RM600, right behind Rex cinema. Until 1994, when Rex cinema was demolished to make way for Medan Pelite, They’ve ended their business after 27 years. Ten years later, in 2004, madam Nglam and her sister returned with their new business under the name what we known for today ‘Old Rex Cucur Undang’.

One of the oldest lok-lok in town, but rerun as a new business since 2004. 😋😋😋 They’re lok-lok here has the best options and their food is so nice. 😋😋🍢🍢 If you like takoyaki, please come over only on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays only. 🙂🙂🙂 Char kueh is so tasty. 😋😋😋 The laksa? Soon…………🙂🙂🙂

If you like the old lok-lok from the 60s, visit old Rex...

When there to have breakfast and ordered mee jawa with chicken satay. Sad to say and honestly speaking, that mee jawa is beyond par. The mee jawa "kuah" or gravy is almost tasteless, doesn't taste like mee jawa. No condiments like shredded beef meat, fried onion and celery. Mee jawa is one of my favourite morning meal apart from nasi lemak biasa. And the chicken satay are sliced thin, as big as baby fingers, unlike any ordinary satay portion. That place will be my last breakfast pit stop.
