Second time to visit restaurant since I was happy with meal last time. I went in for quick lunch and my dim sum came out after 25min- 30min of waiting time. Since there were no one except 4staffs who were having lunch meeting, I thought I could have quick meal. When I ask if my food is coming soon, a staff was not happy and telling me it will come out in 7min . There is dim sum buffet menu โฆ. How can people eat buffet then ? It will require 30min for 4 dim sum dish to come out ??? I even ask staff to settle my bill first since Iโm in hurry and no one comes to apologize . We finish dishes in 10min time and we left restaurant without anyone greeting us.
First of all , there were only 4 staffs eating lunch ( 1 group ) and my order takes 30min to come out ?
Second , other people who came in the restaurant after me received some of the dishes then why ??
Third , all the staff were doing their job ! If there donโt wanna smile then they should not work there since hotel restaurant requires services. Day before yesterday, I went into the restaurant at1:59 and I was refused that last order is 2pmโฆ. So are you supposed to refuse the order at 2:01pm if you want to call yourself the fine dining at hotel ?
And hotel staff with uniform are not that you guys should focus on . They are not your customers. You should think who are the priority customers and rethink about...
ย ย ย Read moreWe came to Shang Palace to round up our trip in Kota Kinabalu after ten days. We were of course expecting great food, excellent service and a warm inviting ambience. Unfortunately, we were let down. Turning up at the restaurant ten minutes past their opening time of 11.30 am was a mistake. Service staff was not ready. Music was off and the ambience was cold. The dim sum which we came here for was a major let down for a 5* hotel and a restaurant named Shang Palace. The fish maw soup was served warm and not piping hot. And the taste was not to expectations as the quality of the soup, fish maw and mushrooms were below par. The skin of the Har Gow fell off easily. The temperature was not right. The sauce of the steamed rice roll was too sweet and the use of BBQ chicken instead of pork completely destroyed the dish. The fried Kailan was a few tads overcooked. The fried rice did not appear freshly fried and the prawns do not appear fresh. And of course, the BBQ chicken further dampened the dish to mere mediocre. Iโll never step foot back to this place again unless this place is...
ย ย ย Read moreWe were disappointed with our dining experience at Shang Palace @ KK, particularly given our positive experiences at their other outlets. Unfortunately, this location fell short of our expectations, largely due to the absence of pork from the menu. This significant omission affects the flavor and quality of the dishes, especially the dim sum. Also, the crispy fish skin was served cold and tasted more like a packaged snack than a freshly fried delicacy. In addition to the above, restaurant ambience is also lacking given the absence of background music. Service from staff felt cold and robotic, lacking the warmth and hospitality we would expect from a 5* hotel. To better manage diner expectations, we suggest that Shang Palace explicitly highlight their non-pork menu policy on their marketing materials,...
