Love this little cafe. Good Friday in Penang and we figured we would do Fish & chips for dinner. I know, in Penang and of all the amazing food choices available we did fish & chips. Well I can honestly say it was above & beyond what I expected. Absolutely sensational. About a 10 minute walk from our hotel Mercure on the Beach. I am a bit of a snob with my fish as I feel seafood is so often served with an array of sauces all over it when personally I think seafood should be kept simple. I am no chef but I pride myself with my cooking of seafood back in Australia. The fish at 1M was barramundi. The menu said with chips & peas. However the delightful young lady, without us even saying any thing, asked if we would like salad. It was a much better option than peas for us ( plus my wife is not a fan) it was only a green salad but it was perfect to go with our F&C’s. Three nice pieces of fish in a beer batter. It was so so good. Although it promotes as a specialty coffee shop ( we found this place by chance out for a walk a couple of mornings ago & had coffee) the food looked amazing. We were not disappointed & will definitely be back before we head home. The staff are absolutely delightful and cannot do enough to assist you. It’s not in central Georgetown but just off the min road to Ferringhi. There is also a very nice food court in the same location and what appeared to be a well stocked Wine shop that also does food. A lovely little area. If in Penang this is a stop we would definitely recommend. If there is one very small negative, especially for evening meal, there are no cold drinks like a soda, coke etc. They do not serve alcohol but we still enjoyed our night. Thank you 1M. Best wishes for a long and successful business venture. ...

We went to 1m Specialty Coffee House during a church retreat — part of a planned group social to get to know each other better. What was supposed to be “just a dinner” turned into something more heartfelt than expected.
✨ What I loved: • The vibes — calm, cozy, welcoming. It’s the kind of place where conversations flow naturally. • The food presentation was surprisingly elegant for a casual café. Every plate looked curated. • And most of all, the staff were genuinely friendly and sincere. Not just surface-level service — it felt like they actually cared that we had a good experience.
We laughed, we shared, we connected — and somehow, this café became part of that memory.
If you’re visiting Penang or just happen to be nearby — it’s a café worth checking out, especially if you enjoy places with warmth beyond just what’s on the plate. 💬✨
