I was introduced to this cute little food truck by my grandma when I was just a kid. This was about 30 years ago. In a way, it's kind of nostalgic for me, whenever I'm in Penang, so I have to have a go at their burgers. The uncle is semi retired, I think. He no longer fries up the patties and onions. The son has taken over, under the watchful eye of his dad. The mom is still there, helping out. Do note that they don't operate under a shelter so if it rains, the truck might not be there. And it only opens after 5 - 6 pm. I've posted the uncle's number so you might want to call before heading there Also you can just drive up to order if you are lazy to walk around.
Order any burger, any burger at all and it will satisfy your craving for a burger. The highlight of it is the fried caramelized onions. The sweetness of the onions perfectly synchronizes with all the other sauces and the patty. It's very filling though, it's a meal by itself. Feel free to ask for less or more toppings and they will gladly oblige. Their burger has its own unique taste, different from other ramly burger stalls that you'll find scattered across Penang.
It's a bit of a drive if you are staying in town. A little bit closer if you're staying along Batu ferringhi but definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy favorite Malaysian style burger place!!! They donāt have any vegetarian burger and cooked all the meat and vegetables together but they have the best sautĆ©ed onion in town. Itās their signature. As a vegetarian, the best thing you can order is banjo (egg, cheese, sautĆ©ed onion, cucumber and bun). They are happy to remove any ingredients or buns if you donāt like it. The sweetness and tangy of the sautĆ©ed onion, the crispy of the vegetables, the melting chesse, all nicely wrapped up in a frying egg, top with the lightly toasted bun. The price is affordable as the banjo costs around RM4 if not mistaken. Always a long queue besides the street whenever I pass by. A very authentic and local type of burger. Itās open for a long time and the same uncle is selling it since I am still schooling. The best childhood...

This was a serendipitous find. Happened to be around the area and recommended by a relative by chance. I wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious burger.
One thing to note is that the burger is bigger than what you normally expect. The burger patty taste self made and not a commercial one you can get at a mall. It's seasoned well and i liked the generous amount of caramelized onion mixed with garlic that accompanies it. I still opine that the onion needs to be a little bit more caramelized to give it a proper kick. However it's an incredible combination and results in one of the better burgers I...
