A very awful experience.
In fact, there is not as many customers as she thought during the day. The joint table that we requested to sit is vacant all the while when we are dining. She just simply refuse to let us to have the joint table.
Slow Service The food took around 1 hour to be served! We have to sit there and wait for 1 hour before the food is being served. Since they separated us into 2 tables, when we need chilly sauce we requested for 2 bottles of it. The staff told us that they only have 1 bottle of chilly sauce. How funny! We ended up passing the chilly sauce here and there throughout our dinner. Imagine this, the whole restaurant only has 1 bottle of chilly sauce. How odd right? Totally ruining the dinner gathering bit by bit.
Unsatisfactory environment Warm (In case you're wondering, I mean warm as in the temperature is not cool enough. Not that I feel warmth and loving for the restaurant environment). My baby (an infant) is sweating throughout the dinner. Became a sticky pad after we finished our dinner.
No need to ask me whether there is a second visit from me. You can read from the above.
I would have rated negative star for it if I...
1 star for the good service 1 star for the cozy and relaxed atmosphere 1 star for the curry kapitan chicken
We ordered prawn aglio olio, curry kapitan chicken, and stir-fried ong te chai.
The prawn aglio olio was disappointing because I felt it had a lot of potential to be a great dish. Unfortunately, it was underseasoned. Prawns were bland, mushrooms were bland, and the spaghetti was also, you guessed it, bland :( But the base flavors were there and could have been so delicious if everything was well-seasoned.
The ong te chai was also bland. The veggies only had some flavor when we dipped them in the gravy, but they were too bland without it. Some of the leaves were also overcooked, giving a slightly burnt taste. The good was that the leaves were soft. I liked the texture.
Curry kapitan chicken was the saving grace of the night. The curry was fragrant and delicious. I could taste the santan, so good! The chicken meat was tender and juicy and went well with the curry. I actually dipped my bland prawns into the curry and it helped give them a much-needed flavor boost.
The service was warm and friendly when we went. I liked the look and feel of the restaurant as well. There are nice seating areas both outdoors and inside. Prices were standard for...
Read moreThree of us had lunch here today and found the service friendly and efficient and the food truly first class. We are three from a Penang nonya family and can speak with some confidence. The fish Gulai Tumis was possibly the standout complimented with another two vegetable, one Nasi Ulam and one Assam prawns. We especially enjoyed the airy and spacious ambience of this restaurant which was an oldish bungalow with a largish garden and parking area at the front. The only downside we thought were the dirty dishes, glasses, etc of the adjoining al fresco business which remained uncleared after what appears to have been a big night of drinking and carousing. Glad we overlooked this and decided to stay. Others would probably have done a U turn. This is a potential 4 star restaurant except for this blight which is too much...
