Went for the chee cheong fun that's topped with fried krill that's absolutely delicious. I loved it. That's fried crispy krill compliments the chee cheong fun. If only they add fried shallots. It will make my day and give 5 stars 😋 The yam cake with the added krill is also nice. The nasi ulam surprisingly is really good. People are queueing up to buy and I tried it. It's tasty though I've never tried nasi ulam before this. I'm definitely going to come again to enjoy this. Can't say anything about the other food though. This two stalls are the most popular as far as I can see. If you love both types of food, this is a must visit. Parking however is a nightmare. I went by bike and it's already difficult to find a spot to park. Can't be helped. It's so near the market, people went there to park. The problem of this coffee shop is the coffee itself. It's too diluted to have a decent drink. Ordered iced black coffee twice and got a super watered down coffee. Worse I've ever tried. A bad example for Penang coffee. My third round next time must try other drinks. Hopefully they will serve better other drinks when I go again. My thoughts on chee cheong fun sauce : In my second visit, I do feel that even though they're generous in their sauce servings, the prawn paste taste do have less intensity compared to any others I've tried. Give it a try and let me know if that's true. I love prawn paste for chee cheong fun and rojak so I'm used to the good stuff but for Kapin chee cheong fun, I'm a little disappointed in the sauce. Still it's better than nothing. That crispy krill...
Read moreThis is a small stall selling Yam cake & Chee Cheong Fan, the Best in Ayer Item (Possible the best in Penang!) Don't be fooled by the stall is hidden at the side way, the Yam Cake is truly Authentic & taste real good! I have ordered 3 pcs Yam cake, RM 5.40 (Rm1.80/pc). There is a feast for your eyes on the toppings, full of Crispy tiny shrimp & fried onions. Beside the good taste, remarkably that you are able to chew the Yam in almost every bite of the Yam cake!(Nowadays, you probably wouldn't be able to see a piece of Yam in the content). Need to come early, sold out by 10am everyday. Highly...
Read moreThere's always a queue for the hokkien mee in this kopitiam. Once I tasted the soup, I understood why people were willing to queue for it. The hokkien mee soup is deliciously flavourful but not overpoweringly prawny.
The nasi ulam which has many positive reviews was surprisingly flat. The ulam lacks a punch though I can't pinpoint which...
