Tasixi in Taman Perling for a dim sum experience that took me back to the old Hong Kong dining style. The restaurant's atmosphere is vibrant and reminiscent of traditional tim sum establishments, but a few aspects left me with mixed feelings. Firstly, the ambience is undeniably noisy, making it necessary to speak loudly to be heard. This might not be the ideal spot for those seeking a quiet dining experience. However, if you enjoy the lively atmosphere of old-style dim sum places, this might be right up your alley. Tasixi follows the unique concept of bringing around different types of dim sum, allowing diners to pick and choose their preferred dishes. The lack of displayed prices might raise an eyebrow, but I found that most items fall between RM 6.30 and RM 7. Meat dishes tended to hover around this price point. The fried carrot cake, priced at RM 7.50, was a standout, boasting above-average taste and a reasonable cost. One unexpected delight was the Fritillaria Cirrhosa with Snow Pear, a refreshing dish with a hint of sweetness. However, the sweetness was a bit overpowering for my taste buds. The price of RM 11 for this dish seemed a tad steep, especially considering that all prices mentioned...
Read moreThis busy traditional dim sum eatery is nested along housing estate still within 15min Grab/taxi ride away from JB centre. They have extensive variety of dim sums that staff will go around tables to show. Any desired ingredients will need to be spotted and taken by customers. Many a times just had to take on guts feeling as staff down there mostly foreign workers that could not convey either mandarin nor English! Taste wise is great: Steamed items like Prawn dumplings, siew mai, glutinous chicken rice, rice rolls with shrimps were all savoury and deep fried items were not too bad too. Esopecially likes the old school XO flavoured fried carrot cake cubes with some bean sprouts inside that added some crunch to the dish. We washed all the dim sum down with a pot of tea that cut away any greasiness left in throats and it felt really satisfying dim sum meal to have in a long while. However will recommend to come during weekdays as weekends queue will be quite crazy(60mins wait under sun without sun is no joke ya). Pricepoint reasonable but expensive since it's housed inside coffee shop, will recommend to try if in the vinicity but will not be worth if espcecially come just for...
Read moreRecommended by someone so came by on a Friday morning to give it a try. Wasnt crowded when we arrived. Staffs were attentive and explained how to order. They only have some items on the menu where you have to order on a slip and send it to the kitchen. The other items with be brought to you in a huge try by the staff and you can see and choose from there. Once you're done ordering there is a tag on the table which you can show the red side up and the staff will not come with the tray of food anymore. This is an interesting concept for us as we usually sees the pushcart style. Downside is we dont know what's available so we ended up over ordering. Price wise is considered cheap for the portion. Taste wise was just normal nothing fantastic. Only the chee cheong fun deserves a shout out as it was really smooth and silky. Carrot cake cubes was pretty good too. Wouldn't mind coming back just for the chee cheong fun and carrot cake but we will give the rest of the...
