We dined-in and booked the father's day menu package. Luckily we booked online and the restaurant managed to reserve the indoor air-conditioned table. All tables are fully occupied and too cramped to each other and our sitting chairs are bumper to bumper to neighbor's chair.
Crab Meat & Scallop Soup Flavorful and the density of the soup is just nice (not too thick and not too watery). The soup portion is really a lot where more than enough for 6pax.
Prawn balls with Nestum Oat The prawns are served with shell peeled-off hence skip the hassle to peel with hands. Prawn meat is chewy, al-dente and crunchy with flavorful oats coating is simply delicious!
Creamy Milk with Abalone The cream taste is somewhat like salted egg cream and each abalone serve in individual table spoon comes quite handy in eating. Some of the abalones quite chewy due to overcooked.
Hong Kong Steamed Red Snapper Fish. The fish size is not that big but pretty fresh and the meat is chunky but should have provide a candle light underneath to keep the fish warm.
Pork Ribs Marmite Very flavorful and the meat is tender with tasty thick sauce coating.
Vegetable in Yam Basket This yam ring is rather small in size hence the vege ingredients inside also a bit small in portion. Nevertheless, the yam texture is well fried, not too hard and maintain its crispiness.
Fried Ice Cream Not a fan of this type of dessert (hot plus cold). Crispy outside and still hard cold inside though.
Total 6 packs with set menu of RM428.00 plus the awful chrysanthemum tea (bland & tasteless) of RM12.00 per pot + plus wet towels + 4 rice bowls (each at RM2.80 which I think quite pricey for a plain rice) + a plate of peanut RM3.60. All in RM 502.90 (with 4% + 6% tax).
Final verdict, the foods are considered above average and the quality are better compare to some well known restaurants. Will definitely return for their ala...
Read moreWe had a nine course meal here last night. Everything was very mediocre just like how I always remember the food served in this restaurant. Not sure why the big fuss from the others.
Crab meat & scallop soup - The soup taste was average. They gave very generous amount of scallops but they were tasteless without the fresh umami taste.
The baked cheese abalone was hard and again very average taste.
The Hong Kong style steamed red snapper didn't have the supposed fragrance and "sweetness" created from adding the boiling hot oil to the soy sauce. Either the soy sauce they use has a normal taste or the oil they poured on top was not hot and boiling enough to bring out the aroma. Also the red snapper itself tasted plain and quite hard in fact, not tender,
Crispy pork knuckle in Vietnamese style - The crispy pork knuckle tasted ok, nothing amazing. Certain parts with the skin were crispy but certain parts of the meat were actually hard to chew. The sliced green apples on top with the sourish and spicy dressing was however very refreshing which was probably the thing I liked the most throughout the whole meal.
Prawns with salted egg - Again, another very average dish. The salted egg was not particularly aromatic and the prawns were not too fleshy.
Crispy Marmite chicken wings - It tasted just like how it was supposed to taste, sweet and Marmitie...
Fried kailan - Not crispy enough and a bit oily actually.
Fried ice cream - Chocolate ice cream has good strong chocolate taste but overall still a very normal dessert.
Crispy pancake - The lotus paste was...
