Void : Sunway Iskandar (Fine Dining at Nature’s Capital)
everything was perfect. I loved the minimalist layout as well as the chilled music and dimmed lighting.. Attention to detail was excellent. It’s a fully open plan venue - your food is made in front of you. Engaging Sunny and Brian made the visit more of an experience as they had time to interact and tell us about the menu, where they’re from originally and other interesting information such as Sencha tea must be served at 65 degrees (I had asked why it was Luke warm). We were fortunate to visit on a quiet evening which meant Shawn (the owner), Kelvin, Brian and Sunny had time to cook and present an intimate dinner for two. Afternoons are very busy as there’s a menu that caters to the offices (workers) at Sunway Citridine (best réserve in advance). We had the home made bread with cream complimented with cold tofu for starters (sublime), followed by truffle and mushroom soup (Tade), onion soup (Maree). Kunagi with Angel hair and mackerel was proceeded by lamb and sea bass main dishes. Sunny (patisserie) presented is with a hazelnut and chocolate cake (Maree) and a Mountain cake (coffee based). This was a selected menu which came in at MYR322. There’s the 11 dish menu that is similarly priced. (Should’ve gone for that!!!). All in all a memorable experience which needs to be followed up. Fortunately we’re moving into Emerald Residence so it’s only a matter of time. Definitely worth treating yourself to...
Read moreIt was our first visit and we chose the meteorite menu before going. Curious yet nervous about going for a dinner where our meal is completely at the disposal of the chef. It turned out that worrying and being nervous was a wasted effort.
It turned out to be one of our most memorable experiences. From the moment we stepped into the restaurant till we stepped out some three hours later, the service was flawless. Not a single detail was overlooked. As an example, midway through the meal as the staff was laying out the cutlery for the next course, she spotted a single minute dot of sauce from the previous dish on the utensil holder. She stopped in mid act and replaced the offending holder before continuing. Such attention to detail was ‘par for the course’ throughout the evening.
The food was incredible. Every single course was beautiful and delicious. Beautiful in its presentation and delicious in taste. Even dishes I normally avoid in other restaurants. Like duck. Here it was made heavenly.
I wish I could balance this report with some negatives but I honestly cannot. From the service, the detailed description of each dish by Sunny our hostess for the evening to the exquisite details of each dish, it was an evening that lived up to the theme of the food journey - memory. It was without doubt, memorable.
Thank you Sunny, Shawn and your team for the...
Read moreA visit to Kioku is not just a culinary but also a sensory experience. The presentation of each well thought out dish is performed with precision and intricacy, and they can easily be described as unique works of art. We choose the Meteorite menu which is comprised of dishes solely selected by the chef. This could be viewed as risky, however, Shawn Shum, is skilled in creating an eclectic mix of dishes that compliment each other and deliver a memorable experience. There were many great dishes included within the menu served, particular highlights being the scallop and truffle, sea urchin fettuccine, potato and the caviar. The guava themed dessert was also outstanding. A very memorable meal presented by a professional and friendly front of house team, whose descriptions of the dishes and attention to detail very much added to the overall experience. Definitely a restaurant we look forward to...
