Read moreVibe - not the dinner date I was expecting. Very open area seating, no privacy. Birthday song played 4 times during our dining, feels like hai di lao kind of vibes. And some Chinese instrumental as music background. Not yakiniku feels, (if I’m comparing to gyu kaku from SG). A bit disappointed seeing the raving google reviews here.
The heat from charcoal was uncomfortable and stinging to my eyes. (My eyes are quite sensitive)
The cuts of meat were good, pretty standard. Satisfying
The service - the staff was quite hard to understand or least one of the lady who had this tag called ‘Captain’, English was not fluent and quite thick w Malay accent.
We chose the 8 kind platter, was advised by this Captain to go in a particular sequence but I felt it was unnecessary and rather arbitrary. Dampened the experience for me. example, the Harami to finish as final three cos it’s the best three cuts, but I found it’s the worst. Quite tough and flavor is nowhere comparable to the others. I feel that can just go with what you want to eat first cos we have our own preferences as we see the marbling on the cuts
After the meat platter, still have space for other food. (Meat platter was 240gm)
Ordered the mini wagyu burger which to me was the highlight. The bun helped to cut out the “jelak”ness. With the mayo and the cucumber. The patty flavor is delicious which says a lot that I could enjoy it even after the yakiniku meat platter.
Ordered sake, however was not chilled yet. They poured into a carafe and iced it from there. Just take note there is additional alcohol...
Read moreFor experience wise of wangyu is not bad as there are not many options in this area as far as I know. If you have never tried wangyu before it's good to experience it once. For me The price is actually not really cheap for the quantity served for what I had before in other places.
Service wise.. The "one" who attends us (I forget her name.) It is friendly and has a smiling face.. even though I knew she was not really well trained but she tried her best to serve us in any way she could. Overall she had a good work attitude. She demo the first piece of wangyu and explained to us what the lemon functions were and which wangyu to start first till the end. ( I actually knew but I just let her do her things and rate my experience in Google).
After the one who served us told me her shift ends and when she left none of the other waitresses will come and check on your drinks if you need to refill or not and I saw "some" of them sit around and do nothing and focus on their handphone or chit chat.
This is a big turn off for me as I paid around RM400 for 2 people and the service is not up to par. The quantity of wangyu is already not much plus the quality of service is not up to standard.
I hope they will get better in their service wise in the future if you are not increasing the quantity of the wangyu as this particular area is not a lot of people will spend that much for small quantities and low...
