Frenche Roast Cafe (Molek) — Restaurant in Johor

A wonderful team serves at this cafe. Even when I actually patronise, they were very welcoming even at the enquiry phase. I’m so happy that their tea set is actually served all day long, no cut off time. When I actually patronise them for the high tea set, I was not only impressed with the excellent service, but also the exquisite and tasty sweets and savoury in the high tea set. The waitress actually introduced each piece with passion and even advised us on the order to take them. Personally, I actually prefer to eat the savoury first because they were served warm and crispy on the outside. The variety is great! Some were served singly and some were served in pairs. I find this arrangement very good. The ones that makes you crave for more, you get to eat the whole piece. The ones that may be jelak, you share them! The high tea set comes with a teapot for 2 teas with refillable hot water. This is a minus as most high tea I’ve been to allow each person to choose their own tea. Thankfully the tea we chose suit both our taste! Another thing they could improve on is that the scones should be served with clotted cream instead of butter which is too heavy on the stomach. Another setback is that the air-conditioning was too strong, the tea cool down too fast. However, the waitress adjusted the strength of the fan of the air-conditioner when I commented immediately. Thereafter, after the hot water top up, the tea did not cool down so fast. Towards the end of the meal, they even serve us a complimentary chocolate flavoured soft serve which ended well with the high tea set! I strongly recommend their high tea! The only thing is that the menu is neither perfect French nor perfect English. Each dish has name that is half French and half English 🤣 I would definitely return here with a different friend next time...

You know about the 30s where Hollywood dress up a white man in Chinese costume and try to pass off as Chinese ? Yap this is how I feel of a no pork n lard french food. Nevertheless I give a chance and try looking at the beautiful store front ... I walk in no one serve. There is a table where kids run around. Menu in writing looks impressive. I have their signature butternut soup n a smoke duck pasta. Butter nut soup tried. However it's like sinful man without a sinless saviour to redeem them, man alone could not have salvation. Same here with the soup without the crispy smokey greasy bacon, the soup level could not be elevated. It remains 2 dimensions at best. They did right of adding the butternut chuck for the added texture and candied walnut to substitute. Unfortunately the over charred walnut produce bitterness and the sugar coating overkill the already sweetened soup. Leaving a bad after taste and candied walnut stuck in your cavity. They serve the pasta along with the soup. By the time you get working on your half boiled egg pasta all creamy sauce has lumps together. The whole experience is destroyed. Simply not the norm for an establishment. I do not know it's lack of knowledge or simply doesn't bother. Passable pasta but nothing special. I didn't finish it. Super pricey and disappointed with RM109++ for 2 person high tea. Around RM17- RM18++ for a bowl of fries. Don’t fool by the “ads” in social media, no RM59 tea set menu at all. Not to mention all are very mini size bite, it’s a cheating kind of French pastries with lack of differences of the layer of textures, basically it’s a mouse with some canned fruit jam filling coated with a layer of sweet gel. All the same. Same applied to their individual French patisseries. See picture, basically it’s a chocolate mouse coated with chocolate sold at RM24++. The service crews are not attentive at all, we have to walk to them for any request. They even charged the cake but didn’t serve and have to remind them when we left. End up we forced to pack away. I never give review on food and dessert but this is really an unpleasant experience especially the price they charged is top notch but quality and taste is below the standard of a basic French patisseries that we had in other cafes in JB paying the same amount for an individual cake. Felt shame when I get my neighbour travel all the way from town to their cafe end up the dessert is not good and not compatible in term of taste, quality and appearance to the price we paid.
