Suddenly got a mood to eat Garlic Cheese Naan after work, then I found this restaurant in Tampoi near Kip Mart with google map. The restaurant ambience is nice and cosy with Indian songs and music cover the whole place. The waitress doesn’t straight away stand beside me and stare at me when I just seated. She gave me just enough time to browse through the whole menu then only came forward to take my order. I then ordered a Garlic Cheese Naan and a Masala Tea. The waitress was friendly and recommended me to add goat milk in my tea and add on a Spicy Masala Toufu (the real name is better but I can’t remember) to eat together with the naan. Food preparation time is about 20 minutes without other customer during the time when I wait for my food. Then people start storming in and quickly filled the restaurant at about 7PM Garlic Cheese Naan is dry and serves individually without curry or condiments. Thanks for the waitress recommendation to add on the toufu. The Naan was spread with chopped garlic instead of garlic butter. Pity the amount of cheese and garlic add to the naan didn’t meet my expectation on the taste. The Spicy Masala Toufu is cooked with all kind of spices and is TASTY. But just a tiny little bit too spicy making me sweat all over my shirt. Lastly the Masala Tea is too small a cup, taste just like the Masala Tea I tried in other Indian restaurant. Maybe the portion too little, or the Tea too sweet, I failed to experience the magic of the goat milk added to it. The food cost me RM26.80 and I am...
Read moreA Hidden Gem Serving Authentic Indian Cuisine I recently discovered Giant Restaurant, a culinary treasure serving a delightful mix of North and South Indian cuisine. Despite being around for more than 15 years, this little gem had escaped my notice until now.
The food quality is top-notch. We tried their Hyderabad chicken biryani, which was moist, well-prepared, and packed with flavor. My son enjoyed a garlic naan and a butter naan with butter chicken. The naan was baked to perfection and the butter chicken was very pleasant, a testament to the skill of their North Indian kitchen staff and chef.
My wife and I refreshed ourselves with ice moru (iced yogurt), a delightful treat that was very refreshing. My son had tea, and I must say, it was the best we've ever had. We were told that their tea is prepared by a Punjabi, and it's clear they know their way around a teapot!
The service was excellent, with pleasant and attentive waiting staff. They made us feel at home and ensured our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.
The only constructive feedback I have is for the owners to consider updating the restaurant's decor to make it brighter. The current ambiance, while comfortable, could benefit from a little sprucing up.
All in all, Giant Restaurant is a fantastic spot for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine. We will definitely be returning for more of their delicious dishes and warm hospitality. I highly recommend it to all food...
Read moreWe went there for lunch and it was almost full house. Managed to get a table for 4. Ordered Cheese Naan (Mozzarella), Chettinad Squid Masala, Chicken Tikka, Prawn Biryani, and Chicken dish (can't remember the full name). All dishes are pictured below. 😋 All the dishes were really nice and tasty. There was a bit of a waiting time, but not too long. Worth the wait, I would say!
The Cheese Naan was lit! It was super cheesy, and we totally devoured three plates of it. It was a bit too much for the four of us, but hey, no complaints there.
Now, let me tell you about the prawn biryani. It was the bomb, man! The masala was on point, and the prawns were cooked to perfection. The rice was fluffy and not oily at all. It came with a gravy and raita, which is yogurt mixed with onions. This dish is a must-try, for sure!
Chettinad Squid Masala was really different and nice. There was plenty of squid and cooked just nice. It blended well for the biryani and Naan, too. A must try dish.
Chicken tikka was nice with the smoky tandoor taste. Can't go wrong with this dish. Came with a dip and blended well with the tikka.
The chicken dish was nice. This dish was recommended by the staff. I would say personally for us,the other dish with gravy was tastier and did blend with the Naan better than this. Maybe 6/10 for this dish.
Overall, all items were cooked well. This place will be a place I would go again and again for sure. #foodie #lunchtime...
