We recently dined at KFC in the South Key area of Mid Valley Mall, Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and while the food was great, the overall experience was very frustrating.
First, the queue system was poorly managed. Although the monitor for displaying queue numbers was turned on, it seemed like the staff weren’t using it properly. I was seated in the outside dining area because my wife didn’t want to sit in the cold indoor section. This meant I had to walk back and forth multiple times to check if our food was ready since the staff didn’t announce it or use the monitor effectively. It was inconvenient and made me wonder why the monitor was even there if not utilized.
Second, there was no ice available for the drinks. I wouldn’t have minded this if the Coke had at least been cold, but it wasn’t, which made the drink far from refreshing.
While eating, I realized I wasn’t given a fork for my rice, so I had to approach the counter again to ask for one. This added to the inconvenience.
The cleanliness of the dining area was also unacceptable. I wanted to sit in the couch area, but the table had leftover chicken from a previous customer. Even other tables were messy with trash and leftover food. Seeing this lack of attention to cleanliness was very frustrating.
Adding to the disappointment, the condiment dispensers were poorly maintained. The chili dispenser was nearly empty, and the ketchup dispenser was completely out. I had to pump repeatedly just to get a small portion, which was frustrating and shouldn’t happen in a busy restaurant like KFC.
On the bright side, the food itself was delicious. The chicken was flavorful, juicy, and generously sized. We ordered the rice meal, which came with chicken, rice, and fries, and everything tasted excellent.
While the food was great, the poor service, lack of cleanliness, and inefficient queue system made the experience frustrating. I hope the management addresses these issues to improve customer satisfaction...
Read moreI don’t understand why KFC Midvalley JB refuses to use the numbering system properly. Customers are left awkwardly standing around the collection counter, waiting for their number to be called—except the display monitor that’s supposed to show “being prepared” and “ready for collection” isn’t working. The numbers just get cleared off without any updates, leaving us guessing. It’s completely backward. Rather than taking a moment to tap a screen and make the process smoother for everyone, they’d rather have customers loiter around, confused.
On top of that, the chili sauce dispenser is always low or empty. When I finally asked for it to be refilled, an elderly staff member just squeezed the near-empty pack to try and get a bit more out, but it stopped dispensing again right after one use. When I went back to the counter to mention it, I was met with a dismissive side-eye instead of help.
Come on, KFC Midvalley JB, you’re an international chain. Do better for...

I am furious with the blatant false advertising and the dismissive attitude of the staff at this outlet. The kiosk clearly promotes RM10 off for first-time app users, but after placing my order and asking the manager about the discount, I was told it only applies to delivery orders. Excuse me? The app and the kiosk say NOTHING about this restriction. If the RM10 discount is only valid for delivery, then WRITE IT CLEARLY. Don’t mislead customers and waste our time and money.
To make matters worse, the manager didn’t even try to help—just brushed me off with a half-hearted explanation and zero accountability. Is this how you treat paying customers? With indifference and misinformation?
This kind of shady marketing and poor customer service is unacceptable. KFC Malaysia, fix your promotions and train your staff to treat customers with respect. I will never return to this...
