I don't really write review but this one bother me. Brought family to the restaurant on Dec 30 for lunch as we stayed in St Giles Mid valley - South key. Saw that there are crowd in the restaurant, so thought the food must be good. They just give us a QR code to scan to order the food. They did not mentioned that the portion of the noodle size is huge and we could have some sharing instead of ordering each one a bowl of noodle. My elderly parents won't be able to finish. No service whatsoever. They charge for the napkins. The real issue is that the food was really bad.! There are much more noodle than meat (very little meat and wan ton dumpling was bad, it could not hold the filling) for ALL Lamian that we ordered! The taste is blend and there is not much taste. Ordered the spinach with trio egg and the taste is better. Overall paid about 200 RM for a family of 5 which is not cheap. This is the 1st time and the last time for us to visit this restaurant. When I paid at the cashier and informed the cashier the food was bad, she asked why if was bad and after I explained, she didn't even bother to mention she will highlight to the mgt and to the kitchen. Simply not interested. She gave you the feeling you are bothering her and she is just an employee. That's all. Don't waste...
Read moreHad a delightful quick lunch at Dragon-i at Southkey Mall this afternoon.
The xiaolongbao lived up to its claim to be the signature item in the restaurant; with its delicate skin encasing flavourful broth and tender meat.
The fried rice with eggs and shrimps was aromatic, each grain perfectly separated and tasted really good. The shrimp paste wrapped in bean skin was okay. Like the fried rice, I would have preferred it to be less oily.
The la mian featuring springy, hand-pulled noodles simmered in a broth was okay too
The siew mai was plump, firm, meaty, avoiding the common pitfall of many dim sum establishments that produce overly soft, gelatinous dumplings. I really loved the robust flavour profile and wish it tasted a tad less salty.
The charcoal-skinned egg yolk custard buns were nothing short of Instagram-worthy. The dramatic black exterior provided a stunning contrast to the molten, rich egg yolk custard within. When carefully torn open, the buns revealed a luscious, golden-yellow filling that literally oozed decadence. The visual appeal was so striking that it created a momentary hesitation - a culinary work of art almost too beautiful to disrupt.
Overall, it was an enjoyable...
Read moreThe place looks nicely modern Chinese decorated. The atmosphere is quite warm and cozy. Many items on the menu from appetizers xiaolongbao to soups, rice dishes, stir fried dishes and noodles. We ordered the seafood tofu, fried carrot cake, spicy shrimp wonton , drunken chicken and the triple egg spinach plus red dates longan sea coconut drink. The carrot cake was very nice. I think it’s the best dish there but very very oily. A lot of egg and it’s flavorful. The drunken chicken is also ok but on the salty side. The seafood tofu was so so, also greasy but large chunks of tofu and seafood. It’s a bit salty too. The spicy wonton was a miss. Failure in both taste and quality of the wonton. Never tasted any shrimp in there and it was just mushy meat. The restaurant should study paradise in Singapore and learn what’s a good spicy shrimp wonton. The triple egg spinach was also so so but the spinach was tender and fresh. The longan red date sea coconut drink was good. Nice that if you order cold, they serve it chilled and not like dumped with a bunch of ice. On the whole we spent like RM150 there. Not exactly cheap but it’s ok for the type of food but more on...
