Jang Won Korean BBQ is a restaurant situated in the mall, Midvalley Southkey, JB. It is open Sunday to Monday, from 10am to 10pm and is fairly famous as most of its dishes are close in authenticity to original Korean dishes. As proof, we went for early supper around 5, and a couple aside spaces already ran out. Ambience-wise, this restaurant provides a very warm tone from the lights to the wall paint colour. A lot of red, orange and some dark colours to contrast. It is however and pleasantly so, not too hot inside. I was expecting to sweat completely since the ventilation did not impress me but to my surprise, it was much better when I was sitting down for my meal. There is not an extremely diverse menu but there are sufficient dishes to choose from. Full side dishes are provided with a selection of 2 kinds of bbq meat. Different combos and sets are available and some sets come with lunch ramen or soup. We had the spicy marinated chicken and beef bulgogi, both pre-marinated, as well as the spicy cold noodles. The meats were delicious, succulent, and a little on the sweet side. Portions are fairly adequate, you get your money's worth. The spicy cold noodles I suppose was supposed to resemble bibimmyeon(based on the picture). It was delicious, that's a given. It was not bibimmyeon though. It was more soupy meaning less sauce clung to the noodles and it was not as red. The sliced pears were delicious and crisp and somewhat compensated for it well. Most of the employees are friendly especially the cashier(who is from Korea), with the exception of maybe 1 or 2. It could have been though as it was nearing the end of the day. And lastly, they do offer free ice cream, so go crazy and enjoy. I will definitely visit this restaurant again. It was worth my time and coin. Though I may not purchase many drinks as I considered them a tad expensive.

Second time here! I think the food is really good & value for money. Ordered Set C both times with different groups of people, and I think the grilling experience really depends on the staff! (Will explain it below) Banchan: Rly good selection and they give ample amounts (some places only give few pieces of each type :') ) and the banchan here tastes good too!! Meat: By default, there's only pork selection in the sets, but you can opt to change to other types of meat. While I love that they help to grill the meat, on my first visit the staff always disappeared for a long time and most of our meat were charred qvq (we didn't notice till kinda late everytime bcs we were chatting & trusted the staff to do it HAHA - oops, lesson learnt). On my second visit, the staff alternated between my table & another but was rly present & grilled the meats well (& fast)!! Kimchi stew: Either my memory serves me wrong or they changed the sizing of this between my first & second visit. The portion seems bigger in the latter one but idk! Anyway, there's a myriad of ingredients in the stew but the soup can be pretty salty Added on kimchi pancake but idk how to rate this as I rarely eat it! I do think it was good tho (chewy in the middle, crispy at the edges) Ice cream: Free flow!! Tho they only have one flavour (cookies & cream) but I'm not complaining bcs I love c&c. Usually full at the end of the meal but even if you're not you can fill yourself up w this 😋😋 Overall I think the service, env, food & price is great & would love to come here again but I think it's way more worth coming w someone else & ordering a kbbq set > getting an ala carte when solo

This Korean BBQ spot is relatively new in Mid Valley. It’s a non-halal restaurant as they serve pork. I went for an early dinner at 5:30 PM on Sunday and there was no queue at all. Service & Experience One thing I noticed is that not all waiters understand English well, so I had to repeat my order multiple times before finding a waiter who could take it. Also, the banchan (side dishes) took quite a while to arrive, which was a bit disappointing. However, the food made up for it! Food Review 🔹 Pork Belly (4/5) – The cuts were quite thick and had a nice taste. Importantly, it wasn’t smelly, which can sometimes be an issue with pork. 🔹 Marinated Ribs (4/5) – Sweet marinade with flavors infused nicely into the meat. Very tender and enjoyable. 🔹 Seafood Pancake (5/5) – Packed with toppings and super crispy—just how I like it! Definitely a must-try. Final Thoughts By the time we finished dinner at 7 PM, there was a long queue outside the restaurant. So, if you're planning to come on a weekend, expect a wait during lunch or dinner time. 💰 Price-wise, it’s affordable considering it’s in a mall and offers good quality food. ✅ Recommended & will definitely return!

A hidden gem tucked within the bustling maze of Mid Valley South Key mall. This authentic Korean BBQ joint offers an experience that tantalizes your taste buds and conveniently located for mall-goers.

Be prepared for a short wait as snagging a table for four might involve a bit of patience. But trust me, the anticipation only amplifies the excitement for the culinary adventure ahead.

The wait is quickly soothed by the charm of the staff. Friendly and professional, they navigate the bustling space with ease, always ready to answer questions and make recommendations. And the best part? They don't just seat you – they become your personal grill masters! Their attentive assistance in barbecuing the meats to perfection ensures every bite reaches its maximum deliciousness.

While the wait for a table may be brief, the wait for your food is practically non-existent. Dishes arrive sizzling hot and lightning-fast, keeping your hunger at bay and your excitement bubbling. From marinated meats that melt in your mouth to an array of vibrant banchan side dishes, each plate is a colorful celebration of Korean culinary artistry.

On price, this restaurant falls on the pricier side of the mall spectrum. But here's the thing: when the quality of the ingredients, the expert preparation, and the attentive service come together in such harmony, the price tag fades into the background. You're not just paying for a meal; you're paying for an experience that lingers long after...
