Chic Café with Great Ambience & Decent Food 🍽️☕
I recently visited Knock Knock Café in JB, and the first thing that stood out was its stunning interior. The place has a chic, classy, and slightly retro vibe, with snazzy sofas, beautiful antique glass cases, and stylish lighting that make it feel warm and inviting. The attention to detail in the decor is impeccable, making it a great spot for photos 📸✨. There’s also a restroom on-site for convenience.
🍽️ Food & Drinks
✅ Laksa Spaghetti with Salmon Steak 🍝🐟 – A recommended dish, and it didn’t disappoint! The laksa sauce (a coconut-based curry gravy) was flavorful but not too spicy, and the salmon was fresh and well-cooked with no fishy smell. A squeeze of lime added a nice tang, enhancing the flavors.
✅ Mentaiko Fries 🍟🔥 – Absolutely delicious! The fries were generously coated in creamy mentaiko mayo with prawn roe, then torched for extra umami. A must-try!
✅ Halal Ramen with Smoked Duck 🍜🦆 – A unique take on ramen, but the noodles were surprisingly thick—almost like spaghetti! The dish came with smoked duck breast, corn, seaweed, and a gooey soy-marinated egg, making it quite enjoyable. Since the café is halal, there’s no pork in the dish, but the flavors were still quite good.
✅ Wagyu Beef Bowl 🥩🍚 – A solid choice with tender Wagyu beef, mushrooms, eggs, and assorted pickles for extra depth in flavor.
The café also offers a wide selection of fancy drinks, though we focused more on the food. While everything was tasty and well-presented, I felt that the dishes were put together using separate pre-prepped ingredients rather than slow-cooked or made from scratch, so the flavors didn’t feel as deeply developed.
💡 Service & Experience
The service was great! The waiters were responsive, and they serve complimentary tap water 💧, which is always appreciated.
🚗 Parking & Payment Options
✅ Free parking available outside first come first served, got parking on weekday lunchtime 🅿️ ✅ Accepts credit card & QR code payments 💳📲
📍 Location & Accessibility
One thing to note: The café is a bit out of the way, with not much else around. So, it’s more of a destination café rather than a stopover while exploring JB.
⭐ Final Verdict
If you enjoy aesthetic cafes and want to chill in a beautifully designed space, Knock Knock Café is worth visiting. The Mentaiko Fries and Laksa Spaghetti stood out, and the service was excellent. However, while the food was good, it wasn’t exceptionally memorable.
🔹 Would I recommend it? Yes, but mainly for the ambience & experience! 🏡🍽️

Read moreHave been here a few times and have 2 bad experience here.
In my previous experience, I specifically ask for the oglio olio to be non spicy to the server and it was agreed. When food came, pasta is spicy. When I asked server why is the pasta spicy I was then told it cannot be done. If it cannot be done why nobody came to inform and still proceed to serve dish? It is basis requirement in all F&B to tell customer what you want cannot be achieve? Should anyone had food allergy and they are unaware are we waiting for accident to happen
On latest visit, 14 dec 12pm I was told to wait at the big table while awaiting for the small sofa table. At one point in time, table become available and Other customer just blantly cut my queue and walk straight to the available table. When feedback to the staff, obviously they are aware that the group came after me they can’t do anything about it and refuse to do anything about it. They did not attempt to inform the queue cutters that this table is already been taken and they have to wait.
All my bad experience are result for the lack of training and incompetence of the server. Why is it so difficult to do proper passing of information and abide by most basic principals of serving customer. If your staff are willing to correct the mistake and instead of giving excuses my experience will not be so bad.
Will not come here anymore to avoid further bad experiences. And for customers who wants to come here. Don’t need to inform them of any special request as it will not be done. And don’t need to queue up, just walk in to your preferred table even if there are others queuing and they will not chase you away based on my true...
Read moreWhen I checked TikTok for new halal cafes, Knocknock showed up as no pork no lard, and the vids I saw were looking great. But just to be sure, I had to read up the reviews of this cafe and indeed, many 5 star ones were written about both the food and aesthetics of this cafe.
It was about 2ish in the afternoon on a Friday (24 May) when I arrived, and while it is an industrial location, the decor and interior are modern. The items on the menu are interesting, and made me want to order more than I can consume!
I decided to go with The Ebi Bao. The prawn patty goes really well with the soft and fluffy bao, with a hint of thai sauce and mayo combo, accompanied with mixed fries (regular and sweet potato). I like how the prawn patty is marinated so my only gripe is the patty was rather small.
My friend had the best seller - Happy's Ever Laksa, great choice really! It is actually pasta with Johor laksa gravy, done just right, not too lemak. But the star of this dish was really the big, juicy slab of salmon. Yes, slab of salmon, not slice. The salmon was seared (perfect crisp on the outside, but retaining the juicy / succulent meat).
Both dishes were truly great, and I love that this fusion cafe has gone to do something different.
According the staff, this cafe is only 6 months old, but I'm pretty sure it will be around a long time!
Thank you...
