I visited your café yesterday (Sunday afternoon around 2 PM) with my family, as your establishment was on my list of places I had been wanting to try.
Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing due to multiple service and hygiene issues that I feel need to be brought to your attention.
At the beginning, everything went smoothly. We placed our order, but I noticed that the staff did not repeat our order back to confirm, which is a basic step in ensuring that customers receive what they asked for.
Soon after, the food began arriving. However, one dish was not what I had ordered. I informed one of your staff members and mentioned that although the wrong dish was served, it was fine—we would still take it.
However, the server returned with the menu and explained the situation in a tone that made me feel as though I couldn’t afford the food or was trying to cause trouble.
I simply suggested that it would have been better if the original staff member had reconfirmed our order, especially since your menu’s wording can be misleading.
Instead of acknowledging the feedback professionally, the staff member raised their voice at me. Naturally, I became upset as well. I repeated that I was not returning the dish—we would eat it—I just wanted to make sure your SOPs are improved in the future.
As the rest of the food came out, I noticed that two of the items we ordered never arrived. I asked another staff member to check, and only one missing dish was eventually served. The other never came, and at that point, I felt there was no use in following up again.
Then, just before finishing our main courses, my family handed me a sauce they found tasty and suggested I try it. Unfortunately, I noticed a dead fly in the sauce. I immediately informed the staff, who took the sauce away without saying a word or offering any form of apology.
While I understand that an apology won’t undo what happened, it is a basic courtesy and part of standard service etiquette, especially in the hospitality industry.
After our main courses, we asked the staff to clear the plates and bring out dessert. Despite clearing the table promptly, it took around 25 minutes before the desserts were served.
Finally, during payment, I noticed that the missing dish—which was never served—was included in the bill. I had to ask the cashier to revise the bill accordingly before I could pay.
In summary: • The ambiance was decent. • The food was acceptable. • Hygiene was unsatisfactory. • The service attitude was unacceptable. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and work on improving your service standards and hygiene protocols. While I had high expectations for your café, this experience left me disappointed.
Should I report this to the Ministry of Health for an inspection...
Read moreI stepped into Attic by Raw in Mount Austin with a feeling of quiet curiosity and it quickly turned into something like finding a hidden little gem. They opened their doors late last year, with roots tracing back to Raw Café Co. in Taman Pelangi, born in 2021 from the vision and grit of Chef J.S. Shaun. He trained in Singapore and Switzerland and sees this place as the perfect canvas for his French-Italian-Western fusion, using quality local ingredients and heartfelt techniques.
Walking in feels cozy and polished: warm orange brick walls, soft lighting, and a café-meets-event space vibe that’s equal parts stylish and inviting. It comfortably seats up to 150, so whether you swing by for brunch, meet friends in the afternoon, or celebrate a milestone, it just works.
Food here follows through. I wandered through the brunch menu and fell for their Signature Swiss Rosti—crispy on the outside, pillowy soft inside, anchored by smoky beef bacon and a luscious sous-vide egg. Their Truffle Mushroom Risotto pulled me deeper into every bite with that melody of rich earthiness and silky textures. I also loved how the Shakshuka balanced tangy tomato and gooey egg just right. For dessert, the Pistachio Cromboloni was a playful delight: crunchy shell giving way to a soft, nutty filling that never let sweetness overwhelm.
Drinks deserve mention too—Strawberry Matcha Latte and Pink Berry looked like they belonged in an art gallery, all rosy and elegant, and sounded refreshing and balanced.
What makes Attic by Raw feel like more than just a place to eat is the way it embraces warmth without trying too hard. The vibe, the food, the backstory of a chef chasing authenticity and care—it all clicks into place. If you’re passing through Mount Austin and want a meal that feels thoughtful, creative, and quietly comforting, this is exactly the kind of place you’ll want to stumble...
