Novan — Restaurant in Johor

Was craving some good western food and stumbled upon Novan Charcoal Grill. Honestly, I went in just to try their salmon because of the hype, but I was super skeptical (too many bad overcooked salmon experiences before 😅).

To my surprise, it was spot on! Perfectly cooked with glistening, juicy flesh and the crispiest skin ever. Paired it with their tea and wow… every sip was a treat. Even the sides like the coleslaw and mashed potatoes were done with so much care, nothing felt like an afterthought.

The best part? The staff. Super friendly, professional yet warm, and it just made the whole experience even better.

I had an amazing dining experience at Novan.The food presentation was stunning, and every dish was cooked to perfection. The steak was juicy and flavorful, paired beautifully with sides like grilled corn and baked potatoes. The pork chops and grilled chicken were equally delicious, complemented by crispy fries and fresh greens.

The appetizers, including escargot with garlic bread, were a standout, and the pasta was cooked al dente with a rich, savory sauce. The portion sizes were generous, and the service was attentive and friendly.

Ordered the Angus steak and seafood platter, escargot on mushrooms. Mostly good except for the grilled squid. Was like eating rubber. Feedback given to restaurant but they just cut it up and returned it to me saying Japanese squids are like this. They offered to exchange it for something else but refused to make a new one for our table. Not very good experience here. Will still come for the other food but the squid- will never ever order from here. A total waste of my money and time...
