The initial impression upon entering the restaurant was positive.
However, the service requires significant improvement. The staff appeared to lack proper training. For example, when escorting customers to their table, it’s customary to pull out the chair for the lady at least. After seating the guests and handing them the menu, it’s a good practice to ask what drinks they would prefer, or at least what type of water they’d like. We were left waiting for someone to return and take our order, and it only happened after we had to raise our hand to get their attention. There was no engagement or recommendations from the staff; they simply stood there and took the order without offering any advice. The starter consisted of two small fish fillets and bread, which was burnt on the underside.
The waiting time for food was excessive. We waited 40 minutes for just two servings of food.
As night fell, bugs started flying around, making the long wait even more unpleasant. We requested a table change, which was accommodated, but we still had to inquire multiple times about our food before it finally arrived.
The Lobster & Scallop Pasta, priced at RM240, looked decent. However, the linguine was overcooked. The scallops came in three different sizes and were cold, although the lobster was well-prepared.
The Lamb Rack, at RM268, included four pieces. While the first two were cooked well, the next two were tough and hard to chew, making them nearly impossible to eat. It seemed as if some fresh pieces were mixed with frozen ones that weren’t fresh. The dish came with French fries that tasted over-fried, resembling re-fried leftovers from the previous day.
Honestly, I didn’t expect this level of quality from a five-star hotel restaurant. Please don’t assume that customers can’t discern food quality. There should be more integrity in presenting food that meets the standards of a five-star...

Had dinner with a large group and ordered a range of dishes including the seafood platter, beef tomahawk and beef wellington.
What worked Location was pleasant by the beach which was decorated with nice lighting all around. Perhaps the restaurant made the effort after all the reviews as we were not bothered by flies for the entire evening. Service was not all bad as they made an effort to be helpful and attentive. However that’s about it.
What didn’t Food is just way overpriced and not of a decent enough standard to justify it. There was no temperature consistency so some dishes came less warm than we would have liked. Beef wellington was one example that didn’t arrive warm and this completely ruined any chance of being decent. Felt a bit flat and not fresh. The tomahawk was probably the most decent of the lot.
Service like I said was ok in that everyone was trying to be attentive. However, there were a couple of incidents that we could not accept and they probably could have done a bit better to recover.
If you are with a car, just drive out for dinner. You can...
Read moreRead moreOuch that was bad - Be aware they don’t want non hotel guests. We stayed at Westin for 5 days and tried many neighboring restaurants. So one evening I called in to Anantara to reserve, they claimed fully booked for the first seating. Having only spaces 9:30pm onwards with the disclaimer that the last order is at 10pm. So we rocked up at 9pm after a casual stroll along the beach expecting a full restaurant and having to wait catching a drink. Well, there was one party seated in the whole restaurant… we asked and were told there is a free table! Yaih! There was only one waiter who was fiddling to open a wine bottle for the only other occupied table for a long time… i think he broke the cork… we were not attended to. after 30 min we got up and left. As we had a lot of time to study the menu, we can attest that it is a bit on the pricy side for even an upmarket restaurant in Malaysia. 🦞 & scallop pasta for 240 RM for example. Seafood platter for 800 RM. Some others have commented the...
