Before i begin, i have to say that i came here with my Girlfriend and both of us have had hella authentic spicy and delicious Thai food in our lives so we have high expectations set prior to the visit.
The staff at this restaurant are friendly, fun and able to recommend items from the menu for the customers on a whim. I even had some fun talking to the waitress who waited on us.
Alas, when the drinks arrived, it was watered down and to put it very blatantly, “meh”, my GF’s thai milk tea was bad and my lemongrass drink was a chore to finish. The food arrived next and instead of being greeted by our main, they served us our dessert first? like I’m not sure if they wanted us to rush out of the restaurant since it was like 30-45mins to closing but even then it’s alittle weird. Our mains arrived alittle later and by god i’ve had much much tastier thai and authentic food made my local malaysians at what would look like a 1 star outdoor restaurant but serves food befitting of 5 star restaurant. Tomyam very obviously used some kind of knorr brand paste masked w the galanggal and lemon grass. No spice even when we ask for it. i felt like i was eating hospital food.
All in all it was nice to explore but i’m never coming here again, they even gave me a 5rm voucher for next time and im sure they gave that because they know they serve horrible food.
TLDR; Low quality food, okay staff and okay atmosphere,...
Read moreCraving for Thai Cuisine, hence Google searched the top 14 Best Thai Restaurants in JB and decided to try this place since it is near to our favourite Japanese Restaurant named Furusato. We ordered Seafood Tomyam, Assorted Platter (Fish Cakes, Prawn Cakes & Pandan Chicken) and Mango Salad served with 2 steamed rice, plus 2 glasses of Iced Lemongrass drinks. It cost about RM105 for 2 of us based on what we ordered. Staff was super friendly, attentive and proactive to recommend assorted platter since we wanted variety of dishes while we were not big eaters. Comfy and casual dining atmosphere. Tomyam and Mango Salad were not sour enough for me, but the server said we could request for more sour/ spicy in future. Tomyam was flavourful enough with the needful ingredients of lemongrass, galangal, etc. The Fish Cake texture wasn’t bouncy enough, but the Prawn Cake and Pandan Chicken was not bad. Overall, the food was still lack of authenticity as compared to some of our favourite restaurants in Bangkok. However, it was good enough to satisfy our cravings for Thai flavours. Therefore, it is rated 4 out of 5 star. Would return to try other dishes in future since we are somehow satisfied with the food, especially the...
Read moreFirst visit here (sorry no photos. Food got devoured before I had the chance to take pics). We ordered the following:
Mango salad w prawn - mango was too ripe. Lacked garnish. Pad Kow Prawn (Basil stir-fried prawn) - prawn was not fresh. Taste was good but lacked variety in veggies. Crab Fried Rice (not on menu) - lacked flavor Friend Paku (baby fern) w Salmon - quite decent except some stalks weren't exactly fresh looking. Prawn Pad Thai - best dish we had. Mango Sticky Rice - delicious!
Given the restaurant is only a month old as of this posting, I'd give them some time to iron out these teething problems and try again in a few months.
