A Heartfelt Farewell at The Cave JB – Where Memories Are Seasoned to Perfection Whenever I’m in Johor Bahru, there’s one place that pulls me in like gravity — The Cave @ Malay Village. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s a warm, rustic sanctuary that feels like home. Over the years, I’ve returned again and again, but this recent visit was special — a farewell dinner with Lyz and Rynell, our last night together before we each turned a new page in life. And The Cave made that night unforgettable.

Ambience & Atmosphere Stepping into The Cave is like entering a different world — with textured stone walls, earthy tones, wooden beams, and vintage lighting that softly glows like firelight in an old-world tavern. A charming well sits by the side, like a scene from a fairy tale. Every corner is thoughtfully designed — a blend of nature and comfort that makes you forget the outside world.

The handwritten signage on the wall:

“Welcome to our kitchen... served with a smile” — says it all. This isn’t just about eating; it’s about being cared for.

Food That Speaks to the Soul Let’s just say, The Cave doesn’t miss.

Non-existent customer service.

When I first drove by & stopped to check out the place from my car, my heart said to give it a miss. I drove around & made 2 u-turns whilst thinking to "just give this place a try".

Upon arrival, I informed the lady server that I just wanted crème brulé & coffee, and asked if I could sit inside.

Whilst seated, nobody attended to me except for another lady server who was clearing the tables. She handed me the menu.

As it was very cold inside, I asked her if I could change to the alfresco dining seat outside.

When outside, I was wondering if I could sit at a section further inside as the seats outside were full.

When I finally found a seat nearer to the small entrance along the small street, it was full of sandflies, and the corner smelled bad, like it was near some sewerage or something.

When I asked a male server if I could change to the seats further inside, he informed me it was not possible as they were trying to fill up the seats nearer to the street. I understand that.

Though, I was perplexed as it was a Tuesday night & the café was not busy at all, at most about 2 tables inside & 5 tables outside were occupied, and yet nobody approached me to serve me as I had to call upon the servers when I wanted to put up a request.

It is very sad that such a small café could not fulfil a simple request.

I recently visited the cave today and had an absolutely amazing experience! As a coffee lover, I tried their Spanish Latte and Chai Latte, and both were truly exceptional.

The Spanish Latte had a rich and balanced flavor with the perfect touch of sweetness. It made me feel relaxed and thoroughly satisfied. Meanwhile, their Chai Latte was full of enticing spice aromas and had a smooth and refreshing taste. The precise blend of spices made every sip warm and delightful.

Beyond the fantastic drinks, I also met a very friendly and charming barista. i though his name was krul or something 😂 He had a sweet dark complexion and a captivating smile. His friendly demeanor made me feel very welcomed and comfortable at the cafe. He was also very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations on what drinks to try.

My experience at this cafe was not just about the delicious beverages but also about the excellent customer service. I will definitely be coming back and recommending this cafe to friends and family. Thank you, the cave for providing an unforgettable...
