We 'tried' to eat here in the last week of Ramadhan 1444H. Read on as to why it stopped short at just an attempt.
Earlier in the day, I called them to ask about the opening hours on that day and if any reservation is required if we came after iftar. The staff/owner who answered the phone informed me that they close at 10pm and that the last order taken will be at 9.30pm or so, and that no reservation is required if we intend to come after iftar, just walk-in would be fine.
So, very much looking forward to our planned dinner here, we had a very light iftar at home and then proceeded to travel the 40 minutes or so required to get there. We reached there at exactly 9pm. However, we were surprised to see that they had closed/blocked the front door entrance to the shop.
Feeling rather confused, I gestured to some of the workers inside who promptly proceeded to ignore me. I then saw the owner himself walking about inside and gestured to him instead. He made the 'closed' hand signal to me and said 'we're sold out'. At this point, in addition to feeling confused I also felt very disappointed. So I asked the owner 'bukan tutup kedai 10pm ke'? He replied very curtly and rather with less manners than what would be ideal 'kami sold out dah, habis dah semua'. He didn't offer any further explanation, let alone an apology.
My question is: why didn't they inform me earlier when I called that they sometimes finish/close up early at 9pm?
Needless to say, such a rude awakening. We won't be visiting again. The owner's and staff attitude and lack of manners is such a...

Early dinner... Tried their signature dish Penang Char Kuey Teow with their house coffee...
Chef Amann himself (I think, as he was in his face mask) came to serve the Char Kuey Teow.. admitted that he didn't cook my Kuey Teow but an 'apprentice' did.. Assured me that if I didn't like the cooking, he can personally fry another! π
Food was actually good πvery tasty & just the right portion for a light dinner (rate : 4Β½) But cockles were a bit small!
~food served in a wok? .. tend to spin! Not practical!
Coffee was nice.
Service was good (rate 4) ~ I keep wondering if the service was with a smile?!
Definitely will come back to try Chef...
Β Β Β Read moreI've already eaten here before. I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed this restaurant.
The food is definitely one of the best Chinese Muslims food I've eaten. The fried stuff is top notch, be it the Chinese fried rice or the Char Kuey Teow.
But for this one, we've tried the lunch set for 2 people (but we share between 3) that includes the Authentic Nyonya Asam Steam Siakap and Supreme Chicken. The food is delicious. I'm so speechless that I dunno what else to tell you besides try it for yourself if you don't believe me.
The place is okay in size, and might be full or empty depending on the time and the day. You can bring your family here, but probably don't bring more people than 7-8 pax.
Highly...
