My first time going into Balakong New Village - I was in Alam Damai so the drive only took me about 15-20 minutes to reach Chiun Yi, a restaurant famous for their roast meats.

Witnessing the locals came in droves during lunch time - the parking spots in this area are very limited by the way - it fueled my expectations higher. Risked a double park and went down to takeaway all the available meats that seem to be disappearing fast from the display.

◾Roast duck and roast chicken - I'm more of a duck person when it comes to both poultries. Both had crispy skin, juicy & tender meat without being overly salty at all. ◾Char siew had a nice caramelisation, slightly charred with smoky aroma.. almost melt-in-the-mouth. Almost my meat of the day until... ◾siew yuk - crispy crackling skin with nice fat-to-lean meat ratio; the only thing to work on is more 5-spices powder. ◾Bonus : Roast sausage completely blew me off. Perhaps the best roast sausage in my life so far. It set a new benchmark on what a good Chinese roast sausage should be. I hogged mostly for myself. ◾Yong Taufu uses both pork & fish meat fillings won't wow but good to have as side dish.

A rare find where they got (almost) everything - and when I mean everything, I mean the roast meats - right.

I was glad that I drove all the way just to tapao the roast meats and had it at the comfort of own house.

Ordered roasted duck with rice. The roasted duck is good but not what I expected. Their duck is smaller in size and the skin contains little fat. Personally I like the duck which contains more fat. But their duck is well seasoned, not very salty and herb aroma comes with every bite. Rice is good and soup is great. The sauce for the roasted duck is great and with strong 陈皮 aroma. Their chili is great too, and the chef said the chili is made using pickled lime. I asked because I thought I tasted 陈皮 in the chili sauce (I eat both sauce back and forth so got confused, this shows how strong the 陈皮 aroma because it stays in your mouth), so the chef said there isn't 陈皮 in the chili sauce but instead the pickled lime. This is the first time I heard you have to pickle a lime before using it to make sauce, definitely an interesting topic to be discovered but I didn't ask...

Came here for lunch, the parking here can be an issue because its located in a Kampung Baru, however there is a basement parking beside.

The Roasted Duck and Roasted Chicken is good for me, nice and flavourful but not too salty. For the Duck is nice and juicy also not dry at all, The Siew Yok is average for me.

However for me the Yong Tau Fu is just normal, but their Roasted Stuffs is definitely good, and also their chilli is nice as well.

It’s around RM35/pax for the portion i ordered for 2 persons, i would say it’s on a pricier side, but it has aircond room so it’s ok for me.
