This restaurant is centered around Pak Cham Kai or poached chicken. You can have the chicken with rice or your choice of noodles. The popular combo is with the Hor Fun (kway teow) in a soup. Dry noodles styles are also available. The broth for the hor fun was tasty and had the sweetness from chicken and prawns in it. The chicken was firm and the skin had a nice gelatinous texture from the poaching. The hor fun was smooth and had the right texture from not being cooked too long. Overall this ticked all the right boxes, but the only complaint is that it was not served with the ubiquitous bean sprouts (taugeh). However it’s still pretty good and I’d give it a Recommended.
The Kai See (shredded chicken) Hor Fun came in a similar broth and had the addition of a prawn (sliced in two). This gets a Recommended as well despite missing the bean sprouts.
Fishballs were decent. Iced coffee was ok.
I saw some tables having the Pan Mee Soup and Dry Pan Mee. Their cakes were very popular as well and were sold out by about 10.30 am. Will definitely be back to explore more of the food...
Read moreToday breakfast special was "lam-mee" (淋面), my favorite being mee + meehoon, there came a bundle of the two items mentioned, covered with heavy and sticky stock in brownish colour, I tried to pry it open to send the sticky stock into the white untouched area and mixed them well, it was pretty hot then, the white fume shot up carrying the pungent lam-mee smell, huh, I enjoyed the simple but homey taste this normal mee offered. That was a good breakfast experience, it went fine with another usual cup of Hainanese kopi and two half boiled eggs. This coffee shop is becoming a busy spot lately because of its simple and clean compound and most importantly, they are just simply courteous. **Sorry this review was posted wrongly by me to this shop, it was supposed to be another shop nearby bearing almost...
