Camp Cafe Langkawi — Restaurant in Kedah

We visited camp cafe yesterday. It was such a wonderful place! The fire, the silence, the food.... everything was great! The place is near tanjung rhu beach....the best beach in langkawi...so if you are there you can wait to see the sunset at the beach and then go to camp café. The last part of the road is not the best but don't let it discourage you. J. the owner is really kind and attentive. The food is great....we are staying in penai cenang that is full of restaurants...but no one was at the level of camp café.....not for food and also for the atmosphere. This was a very different night for dinner - “different good”, not “different strange”.

We were the only foreigners there, the rest were locals with the phone constantly ringing. Lightning on the horizon beyond the padi fields. Dress casual. It’s a little difficult to find. We tried walking a couple of nights earlier so took a Grab this time. The prawn kataifi was as good as anything you will have in a major capital city anywhere. Pasta was good! This is a group of young men working together not because they have to but because they want to. They are a group with big hearts and sincerity that shone through and enjoy their work. This has to be the highlight of our trip to Langkawi. The food is good (I tried the prawn kataifi, samosa, and the smoked grilled chicken)... but the ambience is really something else! Sitting in the middle of a dark padi field with stars overhead, around a bon fire toasting marshmellows, with a mainly local crowd (having a mainly local crowd is always a plus point for me), vibing the night away (they close at 4am!)... this is our most unique experience in Langkawi.

PS: you can always get a Grab there. And coming out is no problem as well as the owner/chef kindly volunteered to send us out to the main road in his scooter+sidecar. That in itself is another unique...
