OPULENT BUILDING BUT SURPRISINGLY ORDINARY FOOD L'Orangerie is located on the lobby level at the five star St Regis Hotel. The building and the surrounding grounds are delightful, however the restaurant (we went for dinner) is a bit disappointing as it has a rather limited menu and a somewhat vague French- Asian fusion focus. We had heard that the bloody mary's were good .. and we were not disappointed! The food however was fairly pricey and plain for the quality served. The beef rendang was served as coconut rice and one large piece of beef cheek. The cheek was not tender and being served as one large piece is a bit unusual for this local dish. There was no (chili) heat in the dish which is probably deliberate for the predominantly Western customers. The laksa was also a bit "fusion" - my Malaysian dining companion described it as "OK". The watermelon salad entree was quite interesting with some delightful fruit and vinegar flavours in the dressings. Service was efficient and fairly formal. People with mobility issues will have no problem as the restaurant is on the ground floor and there are no steps to negotiate. If you are staying at the adjacent Westin Resort, ask the helpful concierge staff to send you home in a buggy :)

During our management team-building trip to Langkawi last September, we had the pleasure of dining at L'Orangerie, located in the St. Regis Langkawi. This restaurant was part of our conference package, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The highlight of our experience was the exceptional local cuisine, showcasing the rich flavors of Malaysian dishes. Each meal was thoughtfully prepared, and the freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite. What impressed us even more was the attentiveness of the servers. They were not only prompt and courteous but also genuinely committed to accommodating our dietary needs. It was refreshing to see their willingness to modify the fixed menu options, ensuring that everyone in our group could enjoy a satisfying meal without any concerns. Having traveled extensively—around 120 nights with the Bonvoy group last year—we have experienced numerous breakfast spots, yet L'Orangerie stands out as one of the best we’ve ever visited. The combination of delicious food, personalized service, and a welcoming atmosphere made our dining experience truly memorable. We left feeling satisfied and looking forward to our next visit.

Buffet for the eyes, stomach, and soul! Attentive staff, a huge variety of dishes and drinks, high ceiling and great ambience, nothing more to ask for! Some items were changed daily for the breakfast buffet, which is good as there is something new for the guests to look forward to every morning as they fuel for their day. The live nasi lemak station adds a great touch to the restaurant. Unlimited champagne/mimosa and your own cocktail with their homemade pandan vodka to drink to your heart’s content. I really like the soft and chewy roti canai as well as their signature St Regis Lychee Iced Tea. You also have to try their river prawn omelette, it comes with a little spice kick which is tantalising. They do have a fair bit of gluten free and vegetarian options, which was pretty inclusive and great for people with dietary restrictions.

We stayed at the St Regis for 5 days and had the most amazing experience. This restaurant became our second home, eating daily breakfasts and dinners. The menu buffet breakfast was enjoyable, with many options made to oder so they were served fresh. We enjoyed pancakes, waffles, omelettes, fresh fruits, toast, cereals, noodles and curries. The freshly squeezed gourmet juices were welcomed refreshment following the days we spent in the sun. The service was attentive, friendly and fun. They made a special effort to connect with the children, and our children were sad to leave. Dinner was very nice too, with the beautiful ambience of the landscaped gardens and the views across the bay. The menu was well suited to daily eating and the portion sizes were particularly generous...we occasionally had to share meals so we could squeeze desert in. The children's menu was perfect to suit those fussy eaters. We got to know each of the staff by name. From the passport of one of the children they worked out it was her birthday and surprised us with a birthday cake and small gift. It truely was an amazing experience. Highly...
