A Promising Culinary Experience with Room for Refinement
During my recent visit, I found the overall taste to be quite enjoyable, with pricing that was both reasonable and competitive. However, there are a few aspects that, if addressed, could elevate the dining experience further.
Presentation: The plate size, while generous, unintentionally highlighted an issue with the presentation—the large plate made the dish appear sparse, even though the portion was adequate. A more balanced plate size would enhance the visual appeal and make the dish feel more complete.
Accompaniments: The soup served alongside didn’t complement the main dish as effectively as it could have. I offered a suggestion on an alternative pairing that might harmonize better with the overall flavor profile of the meal.
Condiments: The sambal, while flavorful, was both too watery and in short supply. Increasing the portion size and improving its consistency would provide a richer, more satisfying accompaniment.
Main Course: The crystal charsiew showed promise, but the cut and texture could benefit from some refinement. Enhancing these aspects would bring out the best in this dish, making it a true highlight of the meal.
In summary, this establishment shows great potential, with a few adjustments that could make a significant difference. I hope that with these improvements, they can attract more patrons and thrive in a competitive market.

Read moreI always seek out HK restaurants to try their HK milk tea & food. Came across this New HK Restaurant while I was around the neighborhood, so naturally I went in for a later lunch. Menu is quite straightforward with a focus mostly on roasted meat - char siew, siew yoke & roasted duck with rice & wanton noodles. They also offered Malaysian style kaya toast & half boiled eggs which are typical Malaysian breakfast staples. Their HK milk tea is pricier than usual at Rm8.80 but then it came with a gimmicky bear shaped ice. It was just nice and not sweet but somehow lack the fragrant tea flavor of genuine HK milk tea. As for food, I ordered a dry style wanton noodles which came with 4 decent size wantons. It was ok and a 3.5/5 to be precise, as I preferred my noodles to be not too wet. The wantons though not big had the necessary ingredients to taste good. I also ordered the curry fish balls which was nice. Service was prompt and attentive. The ambience is cool and cosy inside while trying hard to offer a typical HK cafe vibes. I think the place deserves a 2nd or 3rd visit to try the rest...
Read moreThis used to be our regular breakfast spot — good food, relaxing ambience, and excellent coffee. The owner was often around, and we always enjoyed coming here.
However, today was very disappointing. A fly fell into my noodles while eating. We didn't make a big fuss. When the waitress came to clear the plates, we told her about it. She totally ignored us, without apologising, she tried to take the plate away. Triggered by her rudeness, I told her to leave it and that I wanted to speak to the manager. She left the plate and ignored me completely, without any apology or eye contact. There was no manager on duty, and the poor staff at the counter had to handle my complaint. Expected, there was no satisfactory response, and I don't blame him.
For a restaurant of this standard (a plate of char siew wantan mee costs RM16.80), this is unacceptable — flies shouldn’t be in the dining area, staff should know how to handle complaints, and there should always be someone in charge. I used to be a loyal customer, but after today’s experience, I won’t be returning...
