Today me and my bf went to this nice joint called “NULL”… apparently they called themselves literally “Nothing” because they start off with nothing… so it’s a good metaphor to remind yourself that you got this far from nothing… so good job on the third outlet 👍🏻
So here’s what I’m gonna tell about this place… I eat it for lunch and here is what we ordered:
1- our starter was the Tom Yam School Prawns and wowzers… these are the BEST ones I had in the restaurant 😂 so good that I can’t stop eating it and I’d say this was the king among the things we ordered… this is 10/5 cuz 😂 the sauce was homemade too and it was AMAZING that even my bf who hates mayo loved it 😂😂
2- we ordered the signature sushi taco “Duo Fish Taco” and honestly… my bf prefers it over me cuz I think to me it tasted kinda weird.. maybe cuz I preferred my sushi the normal way haha 😂😂 I’d give this 3/5 cuz I like normal sushi and my bf rates 4/5
3- I pushed my bf to ordered Truffle Scallop Aglio Olio because he loves truffle but sadly.. he thinks that taste wise, he would’ve gotten it elsewhere but taste is ok for him.. scallops are really fluffy… he understands the pricey nature of the dish but he decided to give this 3.5/5
4- I ordered a kimchi risotto which I didn’t think I’d order since I can’t handle cream very well but it was so enticing I have to try it 😂 taste wise… We’re really surprised that it ACTUALLY works! Wow it’s tasty and full of flavour! Loved it.. too bad the cream got to me when I was 1/2 way through the dish 😂😂😂 so I’m forced to stop it sadly… I’d give this 4/5 👍🏻👍🏻
5- My bf ordered the iced mocha and he likes it since the coffee bean and the chocolate ratio is all balanced and very good quality as he can taste it. He’d rate it 4/5 since it’s better the average.
6- Atmosphere is clean and very simple… it’s comfy ^^ the downside is that the price to eat here is kinda steep but at least the food quality is good 👍🏻… so if ur in for a nice lunch time, this place would be good to spend a little extra 😂😂 so atmosphere is 4/5 and price is 3/5…
STATUS UPDATE on latest visit
So we went to Null again as my bf misses the food 😂 so we went there but this time we ordered other things! So here are the items
1- we ordered the truffle fries and they’re actually delicious. The trifle flavour is strong but not too strong that it’s overpowering the potato taste. Portion wise ok for snacking 👍🏻 I’d say this dish deserves a 4/5
2- my bf ordered the Veal risotto and my god he said, his words “Tasted better than some Italian restaurants I ate at”. Well done in this dish! He loved it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Rated this 5/5
3- sadly I wish I can say the same about my dish. Portion wise it’s huge for RM 28 but the items aren’t really that good. Especially the rice :( they used Japanese rice which is sticky and honestly, not very appetising to eat as nasi lemak and was not even hot when I received it. It was lukewarm at best. The sambal was lukewarm too and the egg was ice cold. But the only wining item in the dish, was the chicken and they’re well seasoned, hot and delicious! If you can fix the issues I mentioned, I think this dish will work wonders! In all honesty, the rice has to change cuz it’s a disaster. If give this dish a 3/5 only because the chicken was amazingly delicious.
Overall, Null fails to get me to give the restaurant that last 5 stars. I’ll come back again next time and hope to see some...
Read moreOverall was a relative positive experience but there is always rooms for improvement, in both the food and their services.
There were many dishes that I forgot to take photos, in addition to the paella, null si lemak, 2x salmon rice, we also ordered the unagi rice, clam pasta, mushroom soup, truffle fries, a chocolate cake and a few hot and cold beverages.
Out of all the dishes, most of them are pretty okay, especially the salmon rice and the clam pasta, those two are my favourites of all. On the other hand, out of all, my least favourite was the mushroom soup, I wouldn’t recommend their mushroom soup, there wasn’t much of mushroom taste, more of cream/buttery taste. There is a lot of room for improvement on their mushroom soup. Also, hojicha latte was pretty good too, except I should have told them to serve at the end as I prefer it hot than room temperature by the time I finish eating.
One more point for improvement is their service, in terms of flexibility. There were a total of 8 of us (7 adults and 1 child), when we arrived during lunch hours, there were two 4-seat tables available right next to each other, so I asked for a merge, the servers (yes you read it correctly, 3 of them rejected my request), I had to insist numerous times only they let us merged the tables. The reason they rejected was that it would be inconvenient for them walking pass the alley, but there is way more than enough room. After we merged, I didn’t see anyone had trouble at all walking pass.
Also, I don’t appreciate that there was just a straight no, no alternative, no other suggestion, just a no, which I wouldn’t consider as service especially in a restaurant like this. If you were going to say no, you should have alternatives provided to your customers, unless you think you are fine with customers walking away. Good service is when one able to solve problem, as difficult as it may sound, you want to make sure customers are happy not a rejection seconds after they enter your restaurant.
Anyways, food is considered decent in the area but not impressed with their service which could be a deal...
Read moreMy honest review:
Food taste: 3.5/5 ( Unagi Don is nice but Salmon ricotta taste weirdly not appetising)
Food portion: 4/5 ( portion is quite small for the price)
Price: 4/5 ( RM34 for a piece of bread with thinly salmon slices. RM39 for only 4 cube pieces of Unagi rice)
Aesthetics: 5/5 ( food decoration and their cafe aesthetic really really pretty)
My total bill: RM93 ( 2 Mains + 1 drink)
Service charge : RM8 (not with paying for me. Not even opening the door when I enter + exit)
Improvement for Null: Try increasing the food portion a little more especially the open bread really not worth it for 1 piece of bread RM30+ . Since you are charging RM8 service for the bill on average, the least your staff can do is open door for customer lah since your door quite heavy + help customer fill water once or twice ATLEAST I as customer feel worth paying your service charge 😅
Definitely a must try cafe once in a lifetime because the food they serve is diff than our usual cafe. You like the food or not it’s up to personal preference. I will say, because it’s Bukit raja area not Bangsar the price is...
