Date of Visit: 19/10/2024
I regret to say that my recent experience at Hon Kei Kopitiam was extremely disappointing, and this will likely be my last visit. This was my second time dining at the restaurant.
During my visit, I ordered the curry laksa with chicken. Unfortunately, upon my first bite, I detected a strong, unpleasant odor, indicating that the chicken was spoiled. I immediately asked the staff to inspect the dish, and after checking with the kitchen, they confirmed that the chicken was indeed not fresh.
What concerns me most is how such an obvious issue went unnoticed in the kitchen. The smell was quite strong, raising serious questions about the standards of food preparation and quality control.
I hope that the management takes this matter seriously and implements the necessary actions and rectifications to improve the quality of the food and ensure that this does not happen again.

Read moreFirst visit hence not sure if the food consistency is as our current experience. We ordered vegetarian sambal prawn nasi lemak and curry laksa. The rice was sadly clumpy and there wasn’t much coconut aromatic unless you smell close really hard. The sambal is more towards a tomato-ish flavour not quite to my liking but acceptable. The egg we prefer the Oriental Kopitiam texture better. But good that they have more than 1 vegetarian option.
As for the curry laksa, was ok, maybe we expected more from the wonderful reviews and mouth watering photos but the charsiew was kinda dry.
Service was good and friendly. But the chopsticks.. we would appreciate if some qc is carried out for the hygiene and quality of your utensils. Think is time to change new ones.
Overall ok. Will we come back? Maybe but there are much more other better choices out there with...
Read moreThe coffee shop just newly open 1 week ago. Even though their operation hours from 8am - 4pm but due to they didn't estimate much stock for the food; therefore around 2pm they already out of stock & start to close their shop.
The wonton noodle was a bit disappointed, the noodle was a bit small portion, undercooked, it was hard & stick together. wonton skin was rather thick, when you chew that time; it feels the thickness of flour texture in your mouth 😂. the only thing can comfort myself was the roasted pork & the gravy. Hot coffee doesn't taste like Hainanese nor HK coffee; probably it taste better with ice .....
Staff was focus more on their handphone than the guest and get to rest when the customer go off from their seat. Seriously, the coffee shop need some...
