The chain seems to have pretty good reviews at many of their outlets so I decided to give it a try! We arrived at the Klang outlet early to avoid the crowd. The restaurant was already half full when we reached. The waiter told me we only have 1.5 hours to complete our meal as there was another booking at 7.30pm. It is a typical mainland Chinese restaurant serving ‘Xiang’ cuisine. As there were only 2 of us, we decided to go straight into the main course. We ordered the sour fish soup and a pan fried long beans. We didn’t order any drinks but the waiter kept asking us numerous times which was pretty annoying. They also repeated our orders 3 times to make sure they got the order right! The food didn’t take much times to arrive, for $45, we didn’t get many fish slices at all. I was not sure what type of fish they are using, the fish slices seemed fresh. The broth was made of pumpkin so it has the natural sweetness from the pumpkin. Blended with the sour veggies and the mala, I must say it has the combination of sweet, savory, sour and spiciness to arouse one's taste bud. The beans came soon after, we could smell the ‘wok hey’ and the beans were cooked to perfection with the right amount of sauce but lots of oil. The taste was just right too! I have dined here several times, and still feel that their service is below average. I remembered once I booked a table for 4 people for dinner service, when I reached the restaurant I was utterly shocked. They gave me a terrible seating position. Like excuse me, what is the point for me to book early then? Might as well I just walked in instead? The worst part is on that day it was a rainy day, the restaurant is still empty, i demanded to change the seating, the supervisor wasn’t really happy about it; as she claimed she wanted to reserve the table for other customers (but obviously nobody reserved the table yet). I wanted to walk out of there only she reluctantly switched for me. To my amusement, after I completed my dining, there’s still multiple seating available.
Honestly the food is not really great; very oily for my liking. Grilled skewers is acceptable for me.

Based on the numerous positive reviews on Google, my family and I decided to give LuckyPot a try, especially since I am a fan of authentic Chinese spicy food. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the expectations set by the glowing reviews.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, the aromatic flavor of ma la immediately filled the air, promising a tantalizing meal ahead. We were hopeful, but what followed was a series of disappointments.
We ordered the following dishes:
• 酸菜魚 (Sour Fish Soup): The dish was overly salty, with very few fish slices. The pickled vegetables were cut into large chunks, which disrupted the balance of flavors. • 番茄蛋 (Tomato and Egg): This dish was average and lacked any distinctive flavor. • 烤茄子 (Grilled Eggplant): This was one of the better dishes, though the portion size was quite small. • 烤豬肉串 (Grilled Pork Skewers): The meat was tough, and the flavor was mediocre at best. • 乾鍋蓮藕 (Dry Pot Lotus Root): The dry pot lacked the expected fragrance from the chili peppers. The lotus root was too soft, and instead of the dry pot aroma, all we could taste was the seasoning powder. • 手撕包菜 (Hand-torn Cabbage): This dish was average, but a bit too salty.
Overall, the presentation of the food was fine, but the taste did not meet my personal expectations. To make matters worse, the restaurant did not have any chili oil, citing supply issues. In a Chinese restaurant, this felt like a significant oversight.
Our dining experience was further marred by the unfortunate seating arrangement. We were placed in front of a storage room, and during our hour-long meal, staff entered and exited the room over twenty times, constantly interrupting our dinner.
Adding to our dissatisfaction, a staff member offered us a dessert if we left a review on Google. This explained the numerous positive reviews that had initially drawn us to the restaurant. Our own experience, however, fell short of these high ratings.
Regarding the service, it was average at best. When asked about our thoughts on the food, I attempted to provide feedback. The response from the staff was dismissive, stating, “We have many customers, including Chinese patrons, and no one else has complained. You are the first.” If the restaurant is not open to receiving feedback, it might be better not to ask for it.
If you are looking for some surprising flavors and a memorable food discovery, this restaurant might not be the one. However, if you just need to fill up your hunger with below-average taste, then it might be okay.
In conclusion, our visit to LuckyPot was a letdown. While the presentation of the food was acceptable, the taste did not match my personal preferences. The service was not up to the mark, and the overall experience left much to be desired. It’s unlikely that we will return or recommend this place to others.
