Tucked away in a row of shop lots is Lai Choon Bak Kut Teh, that has been around for many years now in Klang. Once you enter the shop, you are greeted with the cooking area filled with large pots of soup and also cuts of meat cooking away. While there are so many places in Klang for this dish, so what makes Lai Choon any better? For one, the flavour. While others may have an overly powerful strong taste which might be nice to some, I found Lai Choon's to be just perfect. One easy test I found is to mix the soup with white rice. If it's too strong, the rice will taste like the soup. If it's too thin, you get the taste of rice. But if it's just nice, then you can taste the soup and also the rice as well. The portions are not very big, but are generously filled with the cuts of pork that you order. Definitely go for the pork belly, pork knuckle and don't forget to add in an order of the intestines as well. Prices are super reasonable here. I didn't try the dry BKT option as there was already more than enough food, but I'll be back to try it next time.

The Hong Bak comes with a very sticky sauce that was very well flavoured. Cant get enough of it. The meat portions were generous, too. However, the flavour was all in the sticky sauce which only coated the outside of the meat pieces. Hence, once you bite into the meat, it is dry and fibrous inside

Theres plenty of BKT in Klang and each Klangites will have their own personal favourites.

Lai Choon is my favourite BKT for the dry type. The claypot dry bkt that they make are very well seasoned and cooked. Always perfect. Fragrant, nicely sauteed, and just the right spicyness. Their cut of meats are also very good! Some stalls have their meat abit more soft, but theirs are just the right firmness and well cooked. Their soup are not bad as well, but for me i have my personal favourite.

Lai Choon is my No.1 for dry bak kut teh. Highly recommended to come and...
