With hundreds of Bah Kut Teh (BKT) operators in Klang alone, it can be headache if you do not know where to eat. It is almost a normality that you see a BKT shop at almost every nook and corner that you go. But there are quite a few of them that separate from the rest due to their style and popularity.
Ah Her's name is legendary where it humbly started in Pandamaran. When I started going to Klang many years ago, I was brought to this Ah Her BKT by my customer. It was around 5pm++ when we reached but they only open for business at 6pm and start cooking later. He brought out his own tea and we just talked while waiting for the setup. Then I realised why - by the time it was 6pm, all the tables were already taken. That time I learned what a good bah kut teh was, that time I learned why people still go to Klang despite having BKT places near their home, and that time was many years ago... When Ah Her was only operating in Pandamaran and only during dinner time.
Fast forwards to recent years, they have opened a branch in Meru right behind Klang Parade and good thing is that they are opened for breakfast instead... Good because I like BKT for breakfast instead of dinner.
So one day my parents were visiting from Pahang, and knowing my dad is a sucker for good BKT I drove to Klang together with my little sister to tapao the delicacy for them. But before that we had some of BKT for lunch.
They were very busy digging up the parts from 2 big steel pot containing the heavenly BKT, chopped it and then served in a porcelain bowl filled with the super flavourful soup (packed with herbs and sweetness from the pork). Nothing beats having a plain rice and bird eye chilly to go with the meat and soup. 3 bowls of meat to be shared between 2 person.
Many people once told me that Ah Her is regarded as the best in Klang but I'm sure that many of you beg to differ because let's face it... Taste is subjective and everyone prefer different style of BKT. Still they remain one of the most famous operators in the port town of Selangor.
If there is one thing that I don't like... It's the fact that they were stingy with soup. Even my parents who were seen walloping the BKT proceed to ask in the end "Why didn't you ask for extra soup?" 🤣
P.S: now they have another branch...
Read moreIf you want to try BKT, you should try this. Don't think they have anything similar in KL city.
I never understood why people drive to Klang to have BKT until I tried this store. My previous experience of driving to Klang and eating there has always been Teruk Pulai. 9/10 of Klang people will bring me there. No hold bars, Ah Her BKT is worth the drive to Klang and beats that Teruk Pulai flat.
The broth is sauceish and creamy. You can order all the cuts you want. There's no sell out, no table, long hot queue etc etc here. It's a very comfortable place.
Would definitely rate this as the best BKT I've...
Read moreFor my side, I not sure if this is actual taste for Bak Kut Teh in Pekan Baru, Klang. Not even had chinese herbs (For Bak Kut Teh)smell/taste.Normally, in previous time I took this dish with a good herbal smells. In this outlet, my own opinion this is only stew pork not Bak Kut Teh. But one interesting issue was, quite a lot of netizens walked in for their lunch. And also this outlet maintain the traditional + modern way of having the chinese tea. Awesome. Pricing here consider reasonable for all the netizens staying surrounding this area. They had fast service (This I...
