First things first, Char Line is not a place to bring someone on a first date (unless maybe you sit outside on the side, not the front). It’s a place to go as a group with friends and share the food. It is rather loud, due to the amount of groups and the open layout of the restaurant. You can also opt to sit at the kitchen bar counter if you feel like observing the chef. The food theme revolves around the South American concept of Asado, which consists of charcoal grilling meats and seafood for sharing. To go straight to the point, the food was excellent, grilled to perfection. We chose the txogitxu rib eye (250g, 148rm), the seafood tasting platter, the lamb and the squid. All great dishes. Tender medium rare meat with just the right amount of char, the fish was excellent, the squid fantastic. Had some grilled veggies as sides and the triple fried French fries as well. For dessert we shared a spicy chocolate fondant which was delicious. Of course the pricing is on the higher side with nearly RM1,000 for 4 of us (including one bottle of wine, 2 beers). All in all very satisfying. We however have to point out one incident when we found a hair in the first piece of squid we picked on the fork. Upon notifying the waitress, the only feedback we received was a quick apology with the statement that no one in the kitchen has long hair. No option (replacement, discount, cancellation, etc.) was offered, which shouldn’t be the case for a high standard establishment. Also, when one of us wanted to order the Brazilian rib eye (250g, 88rm), we were told that it’s not a good option as the meat is tough and chewy, which felt like a tactic to get us to order a more expensive dish. When my friend then tried to order the chicken, the waitress said it’s very salty, so she ended up choosing the lamb. Weird tactic to put your own...

Was there quite early despite having a reservation at 5.30pm (opening time). Waitress provided us a seat, we chose the outdoor seating area.
Came here due to a raving TikTok review on its bone marrow dish. So it was a must try.
Started off with fried okra and the corn and nachos. Okra is fried to its crispy perfection. The nachos and corn was amazing and it opened up our palates so well.
Next came the main star which was the bone marrow dish (we ordered 2 sets by the way). It was delicious, spreading it on the toasted bread made and sprinkling it with the sea salt made it so decadent. It is honestly to die for.
It was followed by the mains, we ordered smoked duck breast, spring chicken and the Angus hanger steak. Truthfully, for the price you pay for the smoked duck, and only get 5 pieces with the overcooked cranberry sauce, it was too dry. Didn't really enjoy it that much. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium, we got it medium rare, close to rare as the sear was primarily on the outside and thst was it. Made the steak too chewy and a little hard to manage and swallow. The chicken on the other hand, with the sauce, was amazing. I was telling my brother if we had chicken rice (rice cooked in chicken broth), it would have been perfect.
We ended off with the tiger prawns - amazingly cooked, fresh and very very delicious. Perhaps having a dash of garlic butter would have been elevated it a whole lot more.
Overall, to rate, it started raining, staff tried to make sure we were dry, could have shifted us in, but we were okay. Atmosphere was amazing, I felt as if I was not even in Malaysia. Main could have been better. Overall an 8/10, I would recommend, and...
Read moreOn Valentine's Day, we decided to check out this restaurant which appeared to be a lovely local grill bar/restaurant. The positive reviews we saw gave us hope for a great experience. Unfortunately, we were let down and here's why.
Our order included grilled corn, tiger prawns (due to the unavailability of squid), sher wagyu rump, and triple-cooked fries.
Grilled Corn (8/10) - it was undoubtedly one of the most delicious grilled corn dishes we've ever had. The corn was expertly seasoned and grilled to perfection, and the crispy chicken lard topping was the perfect finishing touch.
Tiger Prawn (4/10) fell short of our expectations. Although the prawn looked heavily seasoned, it lacked any significant flavor, making the dish rather bland. We had to add our own salt from the wagyu dish to enhance the taste. Overall, it was a disappointing dish.
The Sher Wagyu Rump (4/10) was the most disappointing dish of the evening. It was dry and grainy, lacking any fats or flavor, despite being labeled as "wagyu." We ordered it cooked medium, but as the accompanying picture shows, it was rarer than anything else. We wouldn't recommend this dish, as it did not live up to its name/expectations.
The Triple Cooked Fries (5/10), or "wedges," were cooked well, but we found them to be lacking in both flavor and seasoning. We even had to request salt on the side to enhance their taste. To make matters worse, the sauces that accompanied the fries (basic chili, mayo, and ketchup) did not match the upscale atmosphere of the restaurant. Overall, the fries were decent, but the lack of flavor and underwhelming sauces left us feeling...
