Excellent omakase sushi in terms of quality. The service was also very good. The interior is very well done. However, the mall where this is located is pretty obscure. No one comes here, so it was not a good atmosphere (though this is probably better for privacy). If you like graveyards, come to this mall.
With that being said, Jiro too does not have that great a location, but itās still got 3 Michelin stars. Location alone does not warrant the three stars out of five that Iām giving this restaurant but when you factor in the price of the omakase, 3 stars is the best I can give as a measure of value-for-money. We paid a total of RM1,200 per head. Sure, we had the additional RM280 per head for the A5 Wagyu, but this would usually come as part of the Omakase at most other high-end sushi spots.
Iāve traveled the world and have eaten at 3 Michelin star spots many times before. Cost is not an issue, but there needs to be a cut-off point for what you can reasonably charge for a restaurant in Kuala Lumpur. This is among the most expensive restaurants Iāve ever been to. And though everything served was nice, it CANNOT cost RM1,200 per head. Not without some expensive Sake to go along with the meal.
As comparison, omakase at Hinata would be around RM600 per head total. And I guess in terms of sushi quality, you canāt really tell the difference, but I think they serve you more pieces at Hinata. So you leave with your stomach absolutely full and 600 ringgit well-spent. To be honest, I was still a bit hungry after I got back. So portions need to be increased more in line with the price that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI don't think there will be second visit.
This is a restaurant which both servers and chef don't understand what "pescatarian" means. Upon reservation, we clearly told them one of the guests was pescatarian. They further confirmed via WhatsApp: no red meat.
On that day (Feb 15), both of us were served foie gras. We highlighted this to the chef right there but he responded without any apology and said something along the line of "Oh, but my staff told me no red meat only?". Speechless to hear such response. It's very dissapointing. First of all, he doesn't understand what "pescatarian" means. Secondly, he obviously doesn't know what red meat family includes too which is extremely ridiculous. And of course, most importantly, zero apology.
To be fair, they served delicious food and the way it's presented was beautiful too. However, it's boring because they tasted quite similar from the beginning till the end and I would say the types of seafood used were quite limited unlike others. Maybe the chef thinks Malaysians like salmon? But we definitely didn't expect a high end restaurant to serve so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy visit to the Private Chamber by @ed.ju_restaurant pop-up was underwhelming. Both the sushi offerings and service left much to be desired.
The sushi quality was disappointing, with some pieces being soft and mushy, despite their appealing appearance. Opting for the 20-piece sushi set priced at rm430++, I was disappointed to receive only 18 pieces, alongside a bowl of miso soup, a fact I only realized when reviewing my pictures later.
Service was lacking, with just one chef handling a group of nine diners, resulting in rushed and hurried service. Adding to the disappointment, they only offered plain water, no green tea ! š¤Æ
While the sushi deal may sound promising, it was not worth for me.
