Food is great, but service left a bitter taste in my mouth. Made my booking over the phone on 8/2/23 for dinner on 11/2/23 and was assured that the reservations had been made. I even requested the window seat. Upon arriving and waiting to be seated for more than a minute, while there were no other patrons waiting in line, the hostess could not find my reservations. These kinds of things happen sometimes, although very disappointing, it's understandable.

The hostess gave my partner and I the menu and walked away but failed to mention that the kitchen was busy and it would take a whole 45 - 50 mins for them to prepare the food. Only when we were ready to order did she find the moment appropriate to inform us of this. If I had known before that, I would have still had time to decide on another less busy dining outlet. She promised that they would provide bread while we waited (the bread never came).

I asked if I were to order the cheese platter, could they send it out earlier while we waited for the other dishes. But no, apparently slicing some cheeses and plating it with some dried fruit was a 40 min task and thus they could not accommodate my request.

During the dining experience:

  1. It was very difficult in getting the attention of the staff
  2. Staff could not anticipate when we would need new cutleries or new plates. I had to call them for even the simplest things. (i.e. new forks dessert)
  3. There was a loud argument between the chef and a French lady that could be heard and really bothered our meal.
  4. They forgot my order of foie gras.
  5. The server could not explain to me what sort of mustard he was offering to pair with my steak. I had to read the super fine printing on each bottle to figure it out myself.

Perhaps, the saddest part of the night was when I was apologized to for the service shortfall_ by the trainee. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think it's the place of the trainee to face the blunt of the complaints of disappointed patrons. It should be the outlet manager/asst. manager/supervisor that should be apologizing. Coming from the service background myself, I felt really bad for the boy and understood what it's like when your seniors "throw you under the bus." Nevertheless; the trainee (Jason), was very nice and did his best to try to rescue my dinner. 5 gold stars to Jason.

Overall, although the food was fantastic, but the entire experience was plagued by horrendous service. I don't know if I'd ever come back. 5-star food, 1-star independent...

I recently dined at Nizza Restaurant in Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara and it was an unforgettable culinary experience. The evening began with a delightful amuse-bouche of cauliflower panna cotta with turkey chorizo, accompanied by garlic bread and quinoa, setting the tone for a fantastic meal. The free-flowing focaccia with pesto oil was a lovely touch, adding a burst of flavor to our dining experience.

We started with the wild rocket salad, which was fresh and perfectly balanced, and the onion rings, which turned out to be my favorite dish of the night. The onion rings were XL-sized, incredibly crunchy, and had a hint of Tabasco that elevated the taste. They were possibly the best onion rings I have ever had.

The smoked duck, a house specialty, was the star of the evening. Presented in a wooden box, the smoked duck was not only visually impressive but also delicious. The flavors were rich and smoky, making it a standout dish.

The diavola pizza was another highlight, with its perfectly baked crust and flavorful toppings. Each bite was a delightful combination of spicy and savory, making it a must-try for pizza lovers.

The service at Nizza was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and vigilant, ensuring that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Their professionalism and warmth added to the overall enjoyment of our dining experience.

Overall, Nizza Restaurant offers a perfect blend of exceptional food, impeccable service, and a luxurious ambiance. It's a bit pricey, but worth every sen for the quality and experience you receive. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in a memorable dining experience.

We recently headed over to Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara to try the menu at Nizza – the hotel’s new specialty French – Mediterranean restaurant. Nizza is a refined contemporary yet casual French Riviera-inspired restaurant, with modern interior architectural – with light colours playing off in its interiors and a striking blue-and-white flooring. The chic pool deck ambience outside meanwhile is reminiscent of the coastline of Cote d’Azur with modern glass parasol pool bar, comfy beach cabanas, and low modular seating.

The restaurant has a show kitchen where you can watch the chefs whip up a variety of specialty items a la minute. This 135-seat restaurant features a variety of seating arrangements, and is suitable for intimate dinner for two, to communal tables for groups of four or more, depending on the occasion of course. The tables are interspersed adequately apart so you won’t hear what the other table is saying while the ambience has an emphasis on unique finishing ranging from highly-detailed art deco and ceiling mural to exotic lightings and a wine cellar with a good selection of wines.

On the menu are a whole range of dishes including Duck Liver Pate, Marinated White Anchovies, Nizza’s Garden Salad, Summer Niçoise Salad, Cheese Board, Garlic & Herb Crusted Spring Lamb and White Sturgeon Caviar. Among the recommended dishes are Turkey “Salchichon”, Truffle & Mushroom Croquettes, Garlic Prawns, Bouillabaisse Cote De Opal, Charcuterie Board, Salted Baked Whole Snapper, White Sturgeon Caviar as well as the Provencal and Lamb Sausage Pissaladiere. Hand-crafted cocktails and fine wines are also available to complement the cuisine.

Celebrated two birthdays with family and friends at Nizza recently. One was on Saturday – Business Lunch Set while another was on a Sunday for its Riveira Brunch Buffet Saturday Lunch Set: Great, personalised experience with a choice of 2 or 3-course menu, or ala carte items namely pasta, risotto and pizza. Set menu comprised high quality dishes such as wagyu cheek, beef ragu fettucine, heirloom tomatoes, carpaccio among others. A thoughtfully selected cheese platter was also part of the menu. For me, a widely celebrated item is the tiramisu—a must-try, as it is one of the best in town. Sunday Buffet: While the menu is not extensive, it is well priced, offering quality selections starting from unique breakfast items such as eggs benedict, salmon, smoked duck and spicy prawn - freshly cooked and served to your table. I enjoyed the anti pasti, selection of breads and variety of salads such as arugula, beetroot and watermelon salads. Seafood such as plump fresh oysters, snow crab legs are good. In addition, there were pizza and pasta that can be ordered upon request. However, grilled meats such as roast beef was not tender enough. What we look forward to was the Cheese Room that features assortment of cheese such as gouda, goat, cheddar and brie with dried/fresh fruits. Overall, Nizza has nice, modern décor with great ambience. Alfresco dining by the poolside is an option. The service was exceptional on both occasions and a big shout out to Shagor, Izzat and Wan. Definitely worth a visit.
