My family and I have become regulars at Fukuya Batai since it opened in our neighbourhood a few mths ago. The service and food is excellent. However the outdoor dining is very uncomfortable, it is very hot. My family occupied two outdoor tables for dinner about a week ago and we were sweating profusely as we ate. I hope the restaurant can consider the installation of ceiling fans like Sam's Batai next door. Our family prefers to sit outdoors due to covid considerations and it would be perfect if it wasn't so hot. I will have to bring my own portable fan next time but I hope management will read this feedback and install ceiling fans. Also the chairs have outward turning legs causing my sister to almost trip and fall during lunch today. These are the two shortcomings that can be easily addressed if willing. Hope the Management can take this as constructive feedback. Update: Outdoor ceiling fans hv now been installed! Plaza Batai is transforming into a cozy and charming place to dine and chill at thanks to Fukuya, Maison, Sam's, Ekkamai, Ben's and the end coffeeshop. There's something for everyone here and the road-level parking is so friendly (a boon for...

Ah, the tale of our ill-fated jaunt to a supposedly charming Japanese joint. Despite promising reviews, our hopes were dashed by the cacophony of three audacious ladies, whose voices could rival a brass band

Undeterred, we endeavored to place our orders, hoping to find solace in the delights of Japanese cuisine. Alas, our dreams were dashed as we awaited our reprieve, forced to endure the unabated saga of those boisterous women. By the time our starters arrived, my ears were yearning for the sweet serenity of silence.

The mentaiko, provided a fleeting moment of joy, though it still paled in comparison to the masterpieces at Uokatsu. The rest of the fare fell flat, with the chirashi being forgettable and the unagi a reminiscent of the microwave-heated ones i get from jaya grocer and make on a busy weekday.

But the real disappointment? The service. Our pleas for respite were met with awkward smiles and empty promises ( "errrr, i try" she said but did, not), leaving us longing for the professionalism of a fast-food joint.

Never again shall we darken the doorstep of such a dismal excuse for a...

I ordered a salmon steak don and clearly requested for all vegetables to be replaced with cabbage. Right in front of me, I heard the cashier tell the waitress “salmon steak don, mixed vegetable.” I asked three times if it would be all cabbage, and she answered “YES” three times.

I have allergy to mushrooms, that’s the reason I always request cabbage only. This is not a matter of preference, it’s about my health. I’ve been to this restaurant many times, and whenever I ordered through the lady boss, my request was never missed. But this time, with a different staff, MY REQUEST WAS IGNORE, AND I FELT LIKE KENA TOYED STRAIGHT TO MY FACE.

As working in F&B industry, I find this completely unacceptable. Staff should know better than to take customer requests lightly, especially when allergies are involved. It’s a very simple request, yet it was disregarded and mishandled. This shows a lack of professionalism and care. This will be my last visit to...

Pleasantly surprised by both the quality of food and reasonable prices. The cha soba in particular was very enjoyable - springy and bouncy texture. Service was excellent. We had finished our meal right at their afternoon closing time of 3pm but they were very accommodating in allowing us to move to the table outside and even sent us off with a jug of cold green tea to refill. EDIT: Revisited a couple of years later, still great. Tried the udon this time, texture was every bit as good as the soba.
