This neighbourhood Japanese restaurant is strangely one of those restaurants that surprises you. Exactly behind this restaurant is Sushi Mentai, to be fair it taste better as in the food served is definitely one notch up but it does cost a bit more, not by much for what they serve. Simple and cozy decor. Dinner time is packed. Now the food review. Agedashi Tofu is good as in the batter is thin and sauce not too salty. You can smell the warm soya sauce and dashi stock. Taste similar like the tempura sauce which I also ordered the Kakiage Tempura, Japanese version of vegetable cucur udang. The batter mix is well done, crunchy and fluffy light. You can taste the vegetables because the batter is just to hold the vegetables together. Nicely done! Tori Karaage Mayo Maki in the other hand was ok only. Next the Katsudon which is rice with Onions, Egg and Deep Fried Pork Cutlet. This is what I call comfort food. On a rainy day, it's just what I need. Very homely tasting like a Japanese neighbour made it for you with full of love. Seasoning is perfect. A bit sweet and salty tasting. Awesome! Miso Soup that came with it was strangely has a sweet after taste to it but was piping hot! Overall an affordable place that serves authentic Japanese food minus the fancy decor and environment. BTW, Goma Ice Cream was not bad, imported but crystallised like...

The prices are very reasonable, portion is generous - my shoyu salmon set came with TWO pieces of salmon! Food is delicious.
Service is fast. Not too warm and friendly but good enough. Very efficient waiters and waitresses. However, a minor complain is that they will only refill tea when asked, and only for whoever requests a refill of tea. They won't bother going round the table to refill tea for everyone.
There are private rooms for bigger groups which you can request when making reservations too.
Overall, an underrated Japanese restaurant in Sri Petaling....

Saba steak is not overly cooked like some Japanese restaurants. It's juicy and the fish is quite meaty... Tempura prawn was fresh, salmon sashimi was thickly cut and could taste the freshness of the meat... It was a nice experience and...
