Review for THAI CAMP:
This dining experience at THAI CAMP changed my previous impression that Thai food in Malaysia couldn't match up to what I had in the UK. Quite the opposite—THAI CAMP’s food quality and taste resonated with the authentic flavors I experienced in Thailand.
On a busy Saturday night, the restaurant was packed. Despite a queue of 5-6 tables ahead of us, we waited for only about 20 minutes to get a table for two. The parking situation wasn’t challenging, perhaps because THAI CAMP was the only establishment open in the entire shop lot area.
The food was remarkable. I ordered the Pork Leg Rice, and it tasted exactly like the high-quality ones I had in Thailand, with a distinctive aroma and lingering aftertaste. The accompanying Thai chili sauce added a delightful sweetness and tanginess to the dish. It was so impressive that I’d give it a full 5 out of 5 rating, something I rarely do unless a dish completely wins me over. My partner's choice, the Thai Tom Yam noodle, tasted authentically Thai and wasn't your ordinary spicy, sour Tom Yam. It had a creamier flavor profile, resembling the Creamy Tom Yam Mamamee. Combined with the fried pork, it was a hit! The queue was well worth the wait for these dishes.
The drinks we ordered—Thai green milk tea and Thai coffee—were also top-notch, albeit a bit too sweet for my palate. However, the Thai Pork Satay (Moo Ping) was an absolute hit. Paired with its accompanying sauce, it was the best I've tasted in Malaysia so far and had me reaching for more.
In terms of ambiance, THAI CAMP was simple and unpretentious, with a slight nostalgic Thai theme. It had no air conditioning, but the place didn’t feel stuffy, even when packed. The exterior design added to its charm.
What really made THAI CAMP stand out was its exceptional value for money. For around RM50, the high-quality dishes were a steal. On this criterion, I would not hesitate to give it a full 5 out of 5.
Overall, THAI CAMP deservedly earns a full rating. I sincerely hope that they maintain their consistency and that the experience remains as amazing on future visits. With authenticity at its finest, I highly recommend it to friends and family, inviting them to indulge in absolute Thai delicacies.
Adding to the overall dining experience was the thoughtfulness of having tissues available at every table—a minor detail but one that adds a lot of convenience for patrons and further reflects the management's consideration for their guests. This, too, contributes positively to my overall rating. With its high-quality food, great value, and thoughtful setup, THAI CAMP has certainly earned my strong...
Read moreRM12.9 for pork leg rice.
RM13.9 for tomyum pork belly rice
RM12.9 for papaya salad
RM5.9 for big thai milk tea
RM9.9 for pork belly fried rice.
Went on a Sunday afternoon and there’s only 2 table occupied, the waiter is faster in bringing over the menu when we settle down. Although there’s less crown, it took them quite some time, 15 min-ish to serve the drink, while both mains were served together followed by the papaya salad.
As you can see the big Thai Milk Tea is indeed big in size, with only RM5.9, I’d say its bang for the buck. Taste is good, not too sweet for my personal preference, requested less ice and is it indeed less ice.
Pork Leg Rice is one of the better ones I had around in Klang Valley, it comes with white rice, a generous serving of sauce, a okay portion of pork leg, 1 braised egg & some garnish with some greens. Taste wise, its definitely above average, pork was tender and the whole experience elevated when paired with the skin, I just wish they provide more skin part.
The Tomyum Pork Belly Rice, is as generic as it gets. Personally find the Tomyum a little lacklustre, not enough kick, a tiny bit watery. The ingredients inside is also not that generous.
Personally would not recommend the Papaya Salad, its just not to my liking. The papaya is a bit too raw for me, hence the texture is rather hard and tasteless, the overall combination with the ingredient and the sauce is just a miss to me.
Took away the Pork Belly Fried Rice, and it was good for the price of RM9.9, the fried rice is on the drier kind, its got a little wok hei but slightly more towards the chao...
Read moreThis highly rated Thai restaurant which was previously at Taman Paramount is now located here. I came after the typical dinner hours and parking was not an issue. I saw a healthy crowd of diners and usually that's a good sign of the food quality and taste. We sat down and placed our orders which include their popular pork leg rice and pork belly fried rice. I added the pork skewers (moo ping) and red ruby dessert to complete our mains. It did not take long for our food to be served afterwards. The pork leg rice came with a thick gravy which reminded me of good one I once had in Thailand. The pork meat was tender and of course, you can't miss out on the fatty bits with that gelatinous goodness. I definitely recommend to enjoy your rice with the chilli sauce because it lent a nice appetising tang. The fried rice came with some comforting dose of wok hey and I thought it was a very decent plate of fried rice. The pork skewers were some of the best I had eaten. Crispy charred exterior with juicy meat underneath that's flavorfully marinated. I would order this again in my next visit. Likewise the red ruby dessert was also one of the more delicious ones I had. It has got a very rich texture unlike some lighter diluted versions elsewhere. Overall the food was good and the price was reasonable. This combination makes it a worthwhile...
