I was contemplating whether I should post this up. You see... This is one of the most satisfying meals for me this year. So satisfying and good that I had thus thought to board everything for myself, fearing that MC Kaki(s) will actually flood this restaurant. Well, they are actually importer and distributor of this famous delicacy from China - hairy crab! In this shop, they double up as a restaurant with just a few tables.
I have this annual pilgrimage to eat hairy crab at least once a year but I didn't expect it to arrive so early. So she showed me the random post she saw online, telling me that hairy crab is already in Malaysia Liao. I was expecting early Nov at least to savour this artery clogging crustaceans. Without further delay, we dragged our lazy butts to this relatively hidden place in the smack of Kuchai Lama.
True enough, the sight of hundreds (if not thousands) of hairy crab inside the chiller was truly a sight to behold. Feeling FUNGRY, we quickly placed our order and waited in anticipation. I purposely skipped my first meal for these! ◾Hairy crab - for now the male crabs outnumbered the female but I always go for male crab because their roe (or should I say sperm?) is thicker and creamier than the female counterpart. I had to witness the crabs to be steamed alive in front of me (looked cruel believe me) for 11 minutes but when the lid was opened, I turned into a carnivorous mammal. It was so so so so so good... That I had to order extra 2 crabs but this time I asked them to steam elsewhere. ◾Hairy crab porridge - costing RM88 for small bowl but enough to feed 2 pax (3 for small eaters), whole hair crab was cooked together with porridge.. the porridge turned yellowish golden colour due to the roe being cooked together with prawn bits resulting in sweet and delicious scoops every time. ◾Spicy Chinese crayfish (RM68) - it came in frozen pack but I am not complaining. Available in spicy and garlic flavour (go for the spicy one), I brought back memories of how I used to sit by the road side in Shanghai to devour this delicacy. They called it xiao long xia 小龙虾 in Chinese. I was sweating profusely in the end. ◾Freshly Shucked Oyster - perfect appetiser before the meal. Came with lemon wedges and tabasco sauce to complete the experience.. just the way how most...

So they're doing a anniversary promotion now which has caught my family's attention to book a table there. After all, we've heard many good things about their crab. Thus, we called up to place a reservation for 6 adults and 1 child. However, for some unknown reason the receptionist was exceptionally rude. It seemed like we were flat out refused service? The receptionist didn't claim that the seats were full or anything, just denied us of a 6 seater and told us to get a 4 seater. We assumed they have their reasons hence we then asked for two 4 seaters to accommodate SIX PEOPLE. Mind you there's also another child we have to fit in that small 4 seater table. It's literally SEVEN PEOLE. They flat out refused which I thought was really strange. In fact, the receptionists tone felt rather arrogant, not a friendly tone that one would expect.
To sum it up, I don't know what the food is like there. This is all about what I've experienced with their service on the line. The arrogance in the receptionists tone when they spoke hit a nerve in me. I'd say be wary of potentially rude service and don't be surprised...

IWC Aquatic (IWC Hairy Crab) as the name implies specialises in Hairy Crabs and seafood such as Mini Lobsters (Xiao Long Xia). Firstly this restaurant is known to operate only 4 months in a year and only during the Hairy crab season. So please check Google or call them before you embark on your journey here.
We tried most of the food here and find that it's only average in terms of taste. The Hairy crabs has two versions (male / female) and we tried both. The first serving was rather overcooked as Hairy Crabs is supposed to have freshness emphasizing mainly on the Koh (yellow stuff). So for the second serving we told the chef to make it less cook.. Which turned out to be really good. Anyway we really enjoyed the Fried Rice (it's really good). Do try when u are here. For other food rating.. Please check out the pictures associated with this.
The price is the food was on the high side as each of this Hairy crab costs between RM100 and RM200. Another tip: Hairy Crab goes well with Chinese Wine (like Fah Tiew) so if you have some.. That would be perfect.
