It's supposed to be my birthday dinner with my siblings & their families. My eldest sister made the reservation and specifically told them its to celebrate my birthday.

This was supposed to be a lovely dinner with my family and my loved ones. But the attitude of the lady server really upset and frustrates me the entire evening. First, she "appeared" to take our orders without being asked. Then, while my eldest sister asked for her recommendations SEVERAL TIMES, she kept saying, "It's up to you", to my sister...😑 Hello! It's our first time being a patron in this restaurant, we would definitely appreciate some recommendations on of their signature dishes. To me, this is laziness at its finest. She is the ONLY staff who took orders in the restaurant, yet she can't even recommend a single dish when a patron asked her? Please consider hiring someone NEW, who is more experienced, helpful and less arrogant to take your customers orders.

The lady who took our orders were extremely rude to everyone at our table. When its my turn to order, she stood far away from me and looked at me as if she's telling me to shout my orders at her. Excuse me?? I will not shout across the table just for you to take my order, you should move closer to customers who are placing their order. Isn't that the most basic courtesy a server should know?! The restaurant is not entirely quiet, and so many peoples were talking. So, obviously, she couldn't hear what I was saying. I had to repeat my order twice, and when she still couldn't hear me, she became frustrated and walked closer to me... WTH!!

The rude female staff who took our orders, then messed up our orders and proceed to blamed my niece who never placed any order; because my sister was the one who ordered the food for her daughter. Seriously??! Why behaved this way when you messed up? A simple apology could have solved it, but Nooo... she went and blame it on my niece..😒😒 (I double checked with my daughter who sat beside my niece, and my daughter confirmed that my niece didn't placed any order)

After some of us have placed our orders, she started to snatched the menu from our table... WTH! My 3rd sister had to tell her not to take her menu cos she's not done ordering.. Please don't rushed your customers to place orders, when your staff didn't do a good job in recommending any dishes.

I was so upset with her attitude that I had to tell the staffs not to sing my birthday song to me. I'd much rather my family members sang it to me, than someone who was rude to my loved ones a minute ago to sing to me. Mainly because, I don't want to hear the rude female staff's voice and have her voice singing to me in our videos.

One compliment I would like to give is to the male staffs who were patient, friendly and helpful to us. I can't say the same to the ONLY female who took our orders tonight. She ruined what could have been a wonderful family amd birthday dinner for me.

The food are nothing fantastic. With the price we were paying, I'm much happier spending it elsewhere where we are not treated this way. Will NEVER come back!! Your rude lady staff mistreated my sisters on my birthday dinner!! I would not have given any star if I have a choice. To future customers, spend your money elsewhere. Unless you don't mind being treated as if you are eating...

Similar to others, i disliked the concept of timed dinners where we had to finish our food within a 2 hour window. To be fair, one of our friends made the reservation; if we had known, we would have asked to go somewhere else. Also, our friend was told that we had to vacate the table by 8.30. By 8 pm, the manager was walking past our table and giving us the stink-eye. We were then informed that the reservation said we had the table until 8 pm which was even more ridiculous. At the end, the incoming guests were seated elsewhere and we were encouraged to continue on to order dessert and tea/coffee. We were so turned off that we left not much later.

In addition, i turned up 5 minutes ahead of the booking. I had to wait outside the restaurant for about 5 mins after a waitress garbled something and then closed the restaurant door behind her, giving me a shocked look when i thought i was supposed to follow her. In the end, i was seated at the back of the restaurant where i could swear i could smell the less than appetizing scent of the restrooms. This, after we had reserved one week on advance. In addition, we were told that — due to SOPs — no more than 4 persons could sit at one table. This was clearly not the case as the table next to us had 6 people at the table. Perhaps the only difference was that a Westerner was at the table? The Anglophilic wait staff probably couldnt say no to that.

The food was decent but not great. The lobster thermidor has a watery taste to the sauce. In fact, all the steaks had a certain over-juiciness which felt somewhat artificial. I couldn’t taste the flavour of the beef. Instead, it was just “juicy” and somewhat flavourless. The sides were lacklustre and rather boring. The sauteed mushrooms tasted flat; the escargot tasted a bit burnt; the baked potatoes had a lot of potato and minimal toppings.

Jake’s is a snooze-fest and a sign that old-fashioned steakhouses like these are doomed to extinction. A place for those who like mediocre tastes and...

I'd give negative stars if I could. We love steaks, good steaks deserve the money paid for them. Jake's is NOT the place for good steaks. The steak was a thin cut, the type you get at those kedai "western" sort of joints. There was no bite to it. It doesn't matter that it was Angus, it looked like it was malletted. What a travesty. The taste of the Worcestershire sauce was overpowering and it was sooo salty. My 7yo could tell immediately what was wrong with it. The burger patty was pulverized, not minced, not ground... Pulverized. It was almost a paste, definitely used premixed seasoning. The charbroiled fish was salty, tasted similar to the steak probably because they used the same grill which is fine but the salt level was way high. They didn't even have the decency to cook the vegetables that came as sides for the burger and fish. Imagine charging RM40 for the burger and chucking some raw veggies on the plate. I asked if I could have the baked potato instead of fries. They said no, I have to order it on top of the fries they will still give me even though I don't want it. Fine, I'll just have fries. When it came it was obvious why. 8 strips of fries. No wonder they wouldn't swap it out. This place runs on nostalgia. I can get it. Literally one guy walked in and the owner was introducing him to another regular as Dr so and so's son so it's really obvious it's that kind of place which is fine. But 418 bucks later, I disagree that Jake's should be anywhere on any list even remotely mentioning steak. This is one of those "western" restaurants, not a steak house. The service was fast but lacking any warmth. Food was chucked on the table. We could have said something but you get the vibe that the owners stance will be we've been here since the 80s so you can saw what you want, which is fine if less than mediocre is the goal. Not worth the price, not...

First impression given by the Filipino lady at the main entrance made us feel as if we were begging for free food. No smiles given to the guests by another guy on the upper floor (looks like some kinda supervisor or something). Hoping that the food here could make up for the below average service but we were disappointed again. Oxtail soup and chicken mushroom soup along with garlic bread were ok. Nothing to shout about. Wagyu Ribeye Marble 8-9 grade as per told by the waiter and Ribeye lamb for the main. The Wagyu had way too much tendon. Very disappointing for the price. The Ribeye lamb was very dry. Would recommend Victoria Station instead for the steak as they taste similar at less than half the price here. For true steak lovers, would recommend Maria's Steakcafe though it is slightly more pricey. Friendly staff and premium quality food.

It's no longer the top steak establishment in my books but it's still a solid choice. Service was excellent and food arrived promptly on a Wednesday afternoon. Prices are reasonable depending on the cut of meat you go for. Surprisingly, the item that we enjoyed the most was the pan-fried squid that we had as appetiser. That was really good. Sadly no picture as we'd gobbled it up too soon. For mains, we got a tomahawk and a "carpet bag" (tenderloin, oysters and some sort of bacon skewered together). Steak was nice, but flavour fell short for me. Just feels a little flat compared to the steak I get from Grub by Ahong. All in all, it was a nice visit. I had fond memories of the place as one of my birthdays was celebrated here, many years ago. And I'm glad we revisited the place, years later.
